Job description

Ron Anderson & Sons Ltd. (RAS)
Location: Langford, BC / Projects throughout Vancouver Island

About RAS

Ron Anderson & Sons Ltd. (RAS) is a growing Vancouver Island construction company specializing in commercial and multi-family wood-frame construction, framing, prefabrication and related building solutions. Our projects involve close coordination between project management, design, production and site operations.

We are continuing to improve how we plan, communicate and execute our projects, with an increasing focus on technology and better systems and processes.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who wants to be part of that environment.

About the Role

This is a hands-on construction Project Manager position for someone with at least 5 years of Project Management experience on wood-frame construction projects.

The Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from planning through construction and closeout, with ownership of scope, schedule, budget, client communication, coordination, risk and overall project results. RAS's existing PM role specifically includes developing project plans, managing budgets and resources, monitoring progress, coordinating stakeholders, resolving issues and recommending improvements based on project outcomes.

We are looking for someone who is highly organized and technically capable, but also someone who embraces technology, continuous process improvement.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Plan and manage projects from handoff through construction and closeout.
  • Develop, maintain and actively manage detailed project schedules.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts and costs, identifying risks and taking action when projects begin to move off plan.
  • Understand project contracts, scope, drawings, specifications and requirements.
  • Manage scope changes and change orders, including their cost and schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and RAS's internal teams.
  • Work closely with our design, production and site teams to keep information and work flowing effectively.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule, cost, quality and execution risks.
  • Maintain clear and accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Lead project meetings and ensure decisions, responsibilities and commitments are clearly communicated and followed through.
  • Support quality and safety expectations throughout project delivery.
  • Build strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness and problem solving.
  • Complete project closeout and use lessons learned to improve future project execution.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on framing experience
  • 3+ years supervising framing crews on mid-rise wood-frame buildings, including quality control inspections, directing crews on how to complete tasks, reviewing and approving RFIs, and performing material takeoffs
  • 1+ year in a project management role, including contract revisions, scheduling in Microsoft Project, budget control, and change order creation
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, scope, sequencing and schedules
  • Solid financial skills: budget management, forecasting, cost control, and change management
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and Claude
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and follow-through
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

Technology & Continuous Improvement

We are looking for someone who is comfortable challenging traditional ways of working and using technology to improve project delivery.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be comfortable learning and adopting new technology.
  • Actively use AI tools where they can improve planning, communication, analysis or administrative efficiency.
  • Look for opportunities to improve workflows, systems and project-management processes.
  • Be willing to adopt new processes rather than relying on"this is how I've always done it."
  • Use project data and digital tools to support better decision-making.
  • Take ownership of improvements and help drive them through implementation.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Project Manager at RAS:

  • Delivers projects safely, efficiently and profitably.
  • Maintains control of scope, schedule and budget.
  • Identifies risks early instead of reacting to them late.
  • Communicates proactively and avoids surprises.
  • Builds strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Takes ownership and follows commitments through to completion.
  • Uses technology and better processes to improve how projects are delivered.
  • Contributes to making the broader project-management team stronger.
