Job description

Who is Litmus

Litmus is building the data foundation that powers industrial AI.

AI doesn’t work without real-world, contextualized data - Litmus makes that data usable. As AI adoption accelerates, most industrial environments still can’t access or use their operational data. We solve that gap.

We’re a growth-stage software company helping manufacturers access, structure, and use real-time data from machines, systems, and sensors at the edge. Our platform sits at the intersection of edge computing, AI, and industrial operations, enabling some of the world’s largest companies to run operations in real time, reduce downtime, and optimize production.

Backed by leading investors and trusted by global manufacturers and partners like Google, Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, and Mitsubishi, Litmus is powering the shift toward software-defined manufacturing.

Why join Litmus

Build the infrastructure that makes industrial AI possible

AI is moving beyond the cloud and into the physical world. At Litmus, you’ll build the infrastructure that enables real-time data to power AI and machine learning systems in production environments.

Work on problems where software meets the real world

Most AI systems fail without access to real-world data. You’ll build the layer that makes them viable in production. We solve challenges at the intersection of distributed systems, real-time data, and industrial constraints — where reliability, scale, and performance are non-negotiable.

Have real impact, fast

You’ll work on systems used by real customers in production, with direct impact on product and company trajectory. As a scaling company, we move quickly. You’ll have ownership, visibility, and the ability to shape both product and company as we scale.

Join a high-performance team

We’re building a team that holds a high bar and pushes each other to improve. You’ll work alongside experienced operators, engineers, and leaders who have done this before and are building again at scale. We hire people who take ownership, move quickly, and care about outcomes. No passengers.

Our culture

At Litmus, the team is collaborative, curious, and low ego. People are scrappy, take ownership, and look for ways to make an impact. We value empathy just as much as execution, whether that’s in how we build, how we communicate, or how we support each other.

We’re a growing company, so things move quickly and not everything is perfectly defined. If you enjoy figuring things out, working closely with others, and making steady progress, you’ll do well here.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Recruiting and People Ops Intern in Toronto to support our growing global Talent team and People Operations in Toronto. You’ll keep our hiring process running smoothly, coordinate interviews across time zones, and help create a great experience for every candidate. You’ll also learn how to run first-round screens for some roles.

A part of this role is learning how to use AI in recruiting and People Ops. You’ll use AI tools to make our processes faster and more consistent, help build automations, and support recruiting and People metrics.

If you’re interested in People Operations, there’s also the option to split your time and work on projects with our People Ops team, such as onboarding, employee experience, and HR operations.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced startup. You’ll get real ownership, learn how a Talent and People team is built, and see the full employee lifecycle from candidate to new hire.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting Coordination

  • Schedule interviews and coordinate with candidates, hiring managers, and interview panels across time zones

  • Conduct first-round screens with candidates to assess fit and share notes with the Talent team

  • Be a main point of contact for candidates, keeping them informed and supported throughout the process

  • Keep candidate data in Ashby clean and up to date

  • Help prepare interview materials and make sure interviewers have what they need

  • Help coordinate pre-hire steps and handoffs to People Operations

  • Support employer brand projects, such as job postings, career page content, and events

AI and Metrics

  • Learn to use AI tools for recruiting and People Ops tasks, such as drafting candidate communications, summarizing interview notes, and preparing documents

  • Help find ways to use AI and automation to improve our recruiting and People Ops processes

  • Build and maintain recruiting and People metrics, such as time-to-fill, pipeline health, and source effectiveness

  • Help prepare reports and dashboards for the Talent and People Ops teams

  • Share what you learn with the team and help document AI workflows and best practices

People Operations (optional)

  • Support new hire onboarding, including preparing materials and coordinating first-week schedules

  • Help maintain employee records and HR documentation

  • Help with employee experience projects and company events

  • Support other People Ops projects as they come up

What You’ll Bring

Must Have

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university or college program (co-op applicants must be enrolled in an eligible co-op program)

  • Strong interest in recruiting, People Operations, or HR

  • Strong interest in AI and how it can be used to improve the way teams work

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and comfortable speaking with candidates

  • Very organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple schedules and tasks at once

  • Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where not everything is defined yet

  • Curious and eager to learn, with a willingness to take ownership

  • Able to work in our Toronto office on a hybrid schedule

Nice to Have

  • Previous internship or work experience in recruiting, HR, or a coordination or administrative role

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT

  • Experience with automation or no-code tools, or building simple reports and dashboards

  • Familiarity with Ashby

  • Interest in tech, startups, or AI

Location: Toronto, Canada (hybrid)

Start Date: Flexible. We’re open to full-time or part-time starting now, or a co-op term starting January 2027.
