Job description

Lions Gate Dodge, part of the Steve Marshall Group, is looking for a results-driven Automotive Sales Manager to lead and develop our new and used vehicle sales department, with a strong emphasis on CRM management, customer follow-up, sales process execution, performance, and accountability.

The Sales Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales department while coaching and mentoring the sales team, driving performance, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, and supporting the overall profitability of the dealership.

The ideal candidate is an experienced automotive sales leader who understands that a dealership’s CRM is more than a database—it is a critical tool for managing opportunities, improving customer engagement, increasing appointments, and driving consistent sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

CRM Management & Customer Follow-Up

  • Own the dealership’s CRM process and ensure accurate, timely, and consistent data entry.
  • Monitor all incoming internet, phone, walk-in, and third-party leads.
  • Ensure leads are contacted promptly and followed up according to dealership standards.
  • Track unsold prospects and ensure appropriate follow-up campaigns are completed.
  • Review CRM dashboards and reports daily to identify missed opportunities, overdue tasks, inactive leads, and follow-up gaps.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales stages, notes, appointments, and communication history.
  • Develop and enforce CRM processes that improve lead conversion and customer retention.
  • Monitor appointment setting, confirmation, show rates, and closing rates.
  • Identify opportunities for automated CRM campaigns, targeted follow-up, and customer re-engagement.
  • Work with management and marketing teams to improve lead quality and CRM performance.

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, motivate, and support the sales team to achieve individual and departmental sales goals.
  • Conduct daily sales meetings and communicate goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop sales staff to support ongoing professional growth and high performance.
  • Monitor individual salesperson performance and provide regular coaching and feedback.
  • Assist Sales Consultants with difficult customer situations, negotiations, and closing opportunities.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and customer-focused sales environment.
  • Promote a team culture that aligns with the values of the Steve Marshall Group.
  • Ensure dealership sales processes are followed consistently.
  • Work closely with the Finance & Insurance team to maximize profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.

Sales Strategy & Dealership Operations

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and initiatives in partnership with dealership leadership.
  • Analyze sales performance and implement strategies to improve closing ratios, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and overall volume.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the GM/GSM on ordering, pricing, and merchandising strategies.
  • Support dealership marketing initiatives and identify opportunities to increase traffic, leads, and sales.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and brand standards.
  • Handle customer escalations and resolve concerns in a professional and timely manner.

Performance & Accountability

  • Establish measurable CRM and sales KPIs for individual Sales Consultants.
  • Review daily and weekly performance metrics, including:
    • Lead response time
    • Contact rate
    • Appointment rate
    • Appointment show rate
    • Lead-to-sale conversion
    • Follow-up completion
    • Unsold customer re-engagement
    • CRM task completion
    • Sales volume
    • Gross profit
  • Hold team members accountable for CRM activity, follow-up standards, and sales performance.
  • Provide regular performance feedback and create action plans when targets are not being met.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key sales metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare sales and CRM performance reports for senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of automotive sales management experience, or equivalent sales leadership experience in a related industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of dealership sales processes and automotive CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve CRM performance.
  • Strong knowledge of lead management, internet sales, appointment setting, and customer follow-up strategies.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, motivate, and inspire a sales team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Comfortable working with sales reports, performance metrics, and CRM analytics.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, dealership management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn dealership software quickly.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate is process-driven, highly organized, competitive, accountable, and customer-focused. You understand that consistent CRM activity creates consistent sales results.

You don’t simply ask, “How many cars did we sell?” You look at the entire sales funnel and understand where opportunities are being lost and what needs to change to improve conversion.

You will lead by example, maintain high CRM standards, and create a culture where every lead and every customer receives timely, professional, and consistent follow-up.

If you’re a driven sales leader who thrives on accountability, enjoys developing people, and knows how to turn CRM activity into real sales results, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and take the next step in your automotive leadership career with Lions Gate Dodge.
