Job description

At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1 day(s)on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

We are seeking an innovative, visionary, and highly autonomous Senior Salesforce DevOps Developer to join us as a key contributor in establishing this core practice.

As ATB’s next Senior Salesforce DevOps Developer, you will have the unique opportunity to build and centralize a secure, scalable Salesforce engineering platform by bridging core development with modern release operations. In this role, you will empower engineering teams to deliver business value rapidly and safely by engineering custom tooling to spin up and manage environments, streamlining deployments, automating proactive system health monitoring, and establishing modern code quality frameworks and developer guidelines.

If you thrive in ambiguity, possess the drive to turn high-level strategy into execution, and naturally spot opportunities to streamline engineering velocity, this position offers a unique canvas to build and scale a modern, centralized Salesforce DevOps capability.

Accountabilities

  • Mentor and coach team members in Salesforce development best practices, design patterns, and quality standards.

  • Design, build, and optimize enterprise CI/CD release workflows and automation pipelines across Salesforce environments.

  • Establish standardized deployment guardrails, quality gates, and automated release strategies to support predictable, high-frequency delivery.

  • Design and build custom developer tooling, automation scripts, and utilities that reduce technical friction and accelerate developer velocity.

  • Streamline internal platform workflows to enable functional analysts, testers, and feature developers to operate self-sufficiently.

  • Own sandbox lifecycle management, including automated provisioning, refresh cycles, backups, and capacity monitoring across all development orgs.

  • Define environment strategy and integration patterns to support multi-sandbox system designs within enterprise constraints.

  • Build automated sandbox data provisioning, database mocking patterns, and execution optimization tools to shorten developer feedback loops and accelerate unit testing cycles.

  • Streamline continuous integration pipelines and environment readiness frameworks to empower engineering teams to validate code updates autonomously.

  • Implement enterprise platform monitoring, proactive error alerting, and system health tracking across integrations, batch processing, and storage capacity.(e.g alert thresholds)

  • Oversee platform compliance, security credential lifecycles, and data management/retention strategies.

  • Maintain and update platform and release tooling (e.g Copado) with version updates, coordinating impact awareness across engineering teams.

Skills, experience & requirements

Mindset & Foundational Skillset

  • Self-Directed Builder: Proven capability to operate independently in an unestablished environment, translating broad team charter pillars into actionable projects without step-by-step guidance.

  • Visionary & Problem Solver: Ability to look beyond immediate friction points, identify root causes across the platform, and design enterprise-wide solutions.

  • Collaborative Influencer: Comfort working closely with Tech Leads, QA Leads, and Integration Leads to understand pain points, advocate for DevOps best practices, and refine team backlogs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent practical experience

  • 4+ years of software development experience with strong scripting capabilities (e.g., Python, Bash, Node.js) to build custom tooling and platform utilities

  • 4+ years of DevOps experience focused on Salesforce platform engineering, CI/CD pipeline automation, and release management

  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Salesforce development and configuration (Apex, Lightning Web Components, Metadata API, SF CLI / Salesforce DX, SOQL, and APIs)

  • Proven track record building automated CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Copado, Gearset, or Jenkins

  • Expert knowledge of Salesforce environment management, sandbox refresh strategies, data masking, and scratch org orchestration

  • Advanced source code management and Git-based branching strategies, following best practices for collaborative development

  • Solid understanding of the software application lifecycle, including system design, integration, risk assessment, and technical analysis

  • Experience with enterprise observability, system monitoring, and logging tools (e.g., Splunk) to track health metrics and alerts

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and working within dedicated product teams

  • Strong understanding of security and compliance best practices for Salesforce configuration, integrations, and certificates

Nice to Have

  • Experience with backup, data recovery, and storage management solutions (e.g., OwnBackup)

  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks, unit test execution optimization, and database mocking techniques

  • Understanding of how Salesforce connects to other systems (REST/GraphQL/OData APIs, Apigee, Kubernetes-hosted services)

Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?
A resume only goes so far in expressing who you are and the unique perspectives you bring. If you believe your skills and experience align with the role—but you might not check all the boxes—we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.
