Job description

Opportunity Snapshot

We’re hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to strengthen the shared platforms, infrastructure, and delivery workflows that our engineering teams rely on.

In this hands-on role, you’ll take technical ownership of improving our GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes infrastructure, development environments, and release processes. You’ll focus on making these systems more reliable and efficient, reducing recurring issues, and creating a smoother developer experience across our engineering organization.

You’ll work closely with DevOps engineers and product engineering teams to build shared capabilities that help teams operate more independently and deliver with confidence. You'll also help evolve our environments, automation, and deployment safeguards to support the growing use of AI agents in software development.

If you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, improving developer productivity, and building systems that make engineering teams more effective, we’d love for you to join our team.

Your Impact

  • Own improvements to shared GitLab CI/CD pipelines and release workflows, making builds, tests, deployments, and recovery more reliable.
  • Build, maintain, and evolve our Kubernetes infrastructure and shared development and QA environments.
  • Strengthen observability and operational readiness for shared infrastructure. Participate in incident response, lead triage and coordination when needed, follow through on preventive improvements, and participate in the team's on-call rotation.
  • Lead significant platform improvements with a high degree of ownership, from understanding the problem and evaluating options through implementation, rollout, adoption, and ongoing operation. Communicate technical tradeoffs, progress, risks, and results.
  • Investigate recurring pipeline, environment, and deployment problems, and deliver changes that reduce repeated failures and manual support.
  • Partner with test automation specialists and application teams to strengthen test infrastructure, automated verification, deployment validation, monitoring, and rollback so teams can release more frequently with less manual intervention.
  • Develop maintainable infrastructure code and automation that help engineering teams provision resources and use shared workflows independently.
  • Use AI agents in engineering work, verify their outputs, and turn lessons into improvements to shared instructions, tests, and safeguards.
  • Mentor engineers through pairing and reviews, and create practical documentation that helps others operate, troubleshoot, and extend the systems you build.

Role Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, cloud or systems engineering, or software engineering with substantial infrastructure or delivery ownership. The depth and breadth of your experience matter more than years alone.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows using GitLab CI/CD or comparable tools, including working with developers and test engineers to strengthen automated verification, safe rollout and rollback practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting containerized workloads and shared environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and operating AWS infrastructure, including services such as EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and VPC, with sound judgment about reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Linux systems, with a strong understanding of scalable web application architecture, networking, security fundamentals, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Experience developing and maintaining infrastructure as code using tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
  • Proficiency in a programming or scripting language, such as Python or shell, with experience writing, testing, and maintaining automation or developer tooling.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, and tracing, with experience using observability tools such as Grafana or CloudWatch to troubleshoot across applications and infrastructure, detect failures, and verify improvements.
  • Demonstrated ownership of significant technical improvements from problem definition through rollout and ongoing operation, including communicating tradeoffs, supporting adoption, and mentoring others.
  • Practical experience using AI coding tools or agents, evaluating their outputs, and improving workflows based on results, along with a willingness to experiment, learn, and share effective practices.
  • AWS certification is a bonus.

What We Offer

  • Hybrid work environment (2 in-office days per week)
  • 4 weeks of annual vacation & paid time off for office holiday closures
  • RRSP matching
  • $2,000 annual health & lifestyle spending account
  • $1,000 annual education budget
  • $1,000 annual charitable donation matching
  • Comprehensive benefits: extended health, critical illness, long-term disability & life insurance
  • Company-issued MacBook & home office budget
  • Anniversary rewards & complimentary Pixieset premium account
  • Team-building activities & company-wide events
  • A workplace recognized for excellence — proudly certified as a Great Place to Work™, ranked among Canada’s Best Workplaces,™ and named one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers

The typical salary range for this position is CAD $117,800 - $160,650 annually. Salary offered will be based on skills, experience and market data.
