As a Senior Telecom Drafter, you will play a key drafting and CAD coordination role in the delivery of mission-critical telecommunications systems across a variety of projects for CIMA+'s key clients. Our telecommunications team works with industrial and public-sector clients across power utilities, energy, transportation, telecommunications carriers, and other critical infrastructure sectors.

You will produce and coordinate complex telecommunications drawing packages in 2D and 3D; interpret engineering design inputs; perform drawing quality reviews; identify drawing conflicts and interface issues; and work closely with engineers, designers and project teams to develop accurate, constructible and high-quality telecommunications deliverables.

You will also provide drafting guidance and mentoring to other team members and support the development of drafting standards, templates and quality practices. If you value diversity in projects and technical challenges, this position is for you. This is a hybrid role that can be based out of our offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, or Edmonton.

  • Prepare bills of materials, cable schedules, equipment lists, nameplate schedules and other drawing-related schedules and data sheets as required.
  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, consistency, constructability and compliance with project and client drafting standards.
  • Identify drawing clashes, inconsistencies, missing information and potential design conflicts, and coordinate resolution with engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate CAD and drawing interfaces across multiple telecom work packages, project stages and related technical disciplines.
  • Support record/as-built updates, drawing package closeout and document control activities.
  • Support the Drafting Manager and senior technical team in developing drafting practices, templates, standards and quality controls.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate drafters.
  • Participate in site visits and field verification activities, as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or equivalent technical training/certification.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant drafting experience, preferably including telecommunications, utilities, industrial, transportation, or other critical infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and strong capability in 2D and 3D CAD drafting.
  • Demonstrated experience producing complete drawing packages from engineering inputs, sketches, markups, vendor information and client standards.
  • Strong knowledge of drawing organization, layering, references, plotting, document control and CAD quality practices.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex drafting assignments while collaborating effectively with engineering and project teams.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
