Summary of the Role and Team

As the Sourcing and Procurement Lead, you will build and lead Varicent’s global procurement, sourcing, and vendor management function. This role serves as the strategic owner of technology and corporate procurement practices, with a particular focus on technology vendors, which represent the majority of company spend.

You will establish the governance frameworks, policies, vendor management programs, and operating processes that enable the company to scale effectively while balancing cost, risk, compliance, and business objectives. Working closely with Finance, Legal, Security, Product, Revenue Operations, and executive leadership, you will transform procurement into a strategic business function that drives operational efficiency, vendor performance, and business value.

This is both a leadership and builder role, requiring the ability to design a function from the ground up while driving immediate business outcomes.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and execute Varicent’s procurement and vendor management strategy across technology and corporate spend categories
  • Build and lead a scalable procurement function, including governance frameworks, operating models, policies, vendor segmentation, and team development
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, renewals, and commercial discussions with key vendors and service providers
  • Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, and Finance teams to manage third-party risk, data privacy requirements, contractual obligations, and vendor performance
  • Establish vendor governance programs, supplier scorecards, and performance management frameworks that support business objectives and risk management
  • Design and implement procurement technologies, AI-enabled workflows, contract lifecycle management processes, and spend visibility programs
  • Provide procurement insights, vendor intelligence, and market trend analysis to support business planning, budgeting, and go-to-market decision making
  • Deliver reporting and recommendations to senior leadership regarding vendor performance, cost optimization opportunities, procurement effectiveness, and business risk

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, supply chain, commercial operations, or a related discipline
  • Experience leading complex vendor negotiations, commercial agreements, and strategic sourcing initiatives with measurable business impact
  • Experience designing procurement processes, governance frameworks, operating models, and vendor management programs
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience developing business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and financial models that support executive decision-making
  • Experience working with procurement platforms, contract lifecycle management systems, enterprise business systems, and third-party risk management tools
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools and automation technologies to improve procurement operations, contract management, spend analysis, or vendor intelligence activities
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with executive leaders and stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Security, Product, Operations, and Revenue teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience

Success Outcomes

First 90 Days

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Varicent’s vendor landscape, procurement practices, technology spend, contracts, and stakeholder priorities
  • Assess current procurement processes, vendor governance approaches, and risk management practices
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Security, Product, and leadership teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve vendor visibility, governance, spend management, and operational efficiency

Within 6 Months

  • Launch a formal vendor governance framework, including supplier segmentation, performance criteria, and risk management processes
  • Establish standardized procurement policies, workflows, documentation standards, and vendor management playbooks
  • Improve visibility into contract obligations, spend commitments, vendor performance, and renewal timelines
  • Implement AI-enabled processes or tools that improve procurement efficiency, insight generation, or operational scalability
  • Deliver measurable improvements in vendor management, sourcing effectiveness, or procurement process consistency

Within 12 Months

  • Establish a fully operational procurement and vendor management function with company-wide adoption of governance standards and operating procedures
  • Deliver measurable cost optimization, vendor consolidation, or commercial improvement initiatives with documented business impact
  • Achieve comprehensive visibility into vendor contracts, spend, obligations, and risk profiles through scalable systems and processes
  • Establish procurement as a strategic business partner that provides actionable market intelligence, vendor insights, and commercial recommendations
  • Build a foundation that supports long-term procurement scalability, operational excellence, and business growth

For this role, the estimated annual base salary range is between 96,000.00 - 126,000.00 CAD. In addition to base salary, our compensation package may include bonuses, commissions for eligible sales roles, and a comprehensive benefits package.
