Reporting to the Stations Director within the Co-Development Phase of the ALTO program, the Station Design Manager will lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary design of HSR (High Speed Rail) stations and associated facilities across all project stages. The Station Design Manager is responsible for ensuring that station designs meet project objectives, operational requirements, passenger experience standards, regulatory frameworks, constructability constraints, and lifecycle performance targets. This role entails technical leadership across architecture, structural, MEP, utilities, fire/life safety, vertical transportation, civil interfaces, and rail systems integration. The Station Design Manager will act as the accountable design lead for station packages in front of project boards, stakeholders, authorities, and the client.

Your Role

  • Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary design of HSR stations and associated facilities, from concept through IFC, ensuring alignment with program objectives.

  • Establish and enforce technical governance, including design reviews, change management, configuration management, and decision traceability.

  • Ensure designs comply with project requirements, technical standards, Canadian codes and regulations, as well as passenger experience standards.

  • Drive interface management between stations and rail systems, civil works, energy systems, municipal infrastructure, and third‑party developments.

  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to support permitting, approvals, accessibility requirements, and environmental processes.

  • Integrate operational, passenger experience, safety and security, sustainability, maintainability, multimodal connectivity and life‑cycle cost considerations into design decisions.

  • Manage design and construction risks while supporting cost optimization and value engineering.

  • Ensure station design deliverables meet program schedule, budget, quality, and scope requirements.

  • Support procurement and tender preparation, including scope definition, technical criteria, and proposal evaluations.

About You

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Has a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience on major projects, including at least 10 years in a leadership role.

  • Demonstrates the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in complex, highly regulated infrastructure project environments.

  • Has strong expertise in the design of stations or large‑scale transportation buildings, including architecture, structures, MEP systems, and life safety.

  • Proven ability to manage technical interfaces, risks, costs, and schedules at the scale of a major program.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills with executive‑level stakeholders, authorities, and internal and external partners.

  • Able to communicate in French and English, both orally and in writing. *

* You are applying for a position that requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as the work produced is for Canada and the employees you will manage are located across Canada (or globally).
