Position Summary

• Review corporate tax accounts (including withholding tax accounts) for foreign statutory reporting, identify issues, and provide guidance to local finance teams to resolve them.
• Manage Canadian corporate tax audits and respond to CRA notices, reassessments, and information requests, and support the preparation of notices of objection where required; support foreign tax audits.
• Maintain and document internal controls over tax reporting, including controls over the tax provision and tax account reconciliations.

Tax Advisory, Planning, Research & Transactions
• Conduct tax research on Canadian and international tax matters, monitor legislative changes, and prepare technical memos with clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Analyze cross-border transactions for tax implications, including withholding taxes and treaty relief.
• Quantify the impact of tax planning opportunities on the Company’s effective tax rate and cash taxes and support the implementation of approved initiatives.
• Conduct tax due diligence on acquisitions, identifying tax risks and exposures.
• Support the post-acquisition tax integration of acquired companies, including entity rationalizations (e.g., amalgamations and wind-ups) and tax registrations.
• Improve tax return, provision, and reporting processes with a focus on accuracy, standardization, and efficiency.
• Review tax clauses for sales contracts, identify potential tax risks and recommend appropriate contract terms.
• Support ad hoc tax projects as required.
