Recognized as one of the Great Places to Work and Canada's Top Small & Medium Employers in 2026, we offer professional growth opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and a culture where people come first.

About the Role

Longboard is seeking an experienced Team Lead Software Developer with strong Python expertise to lead a small team of developers supporting our manufacturing and business operations. Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, this role plays a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that power inventory management, factory workflow, shipping processes, ERP synchronization, and customer-facing applications.

You will collaborate closely with operations business analyst liaisons and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions. In addition to hands-on development, you will oversee backlog refinement, provide task estimates, assign work across the team, conduct code reviews, maintain coding standards, and support release planning to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with Longboard’s operational goals.

This is a leadership role that combines technical excellence, strategic thinking, hands-on development, and team mentorship in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About You

You are a highly skilled Python developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and leading others to success. You balance hands-on coding with team leadership and take pride in writing clean, maintainable, efficient, and well-documented code.

You bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or computer programming, with strong expertise in Python and ReactJS
  • 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries
  • 2+ years of Team Lead experience
  • Strong testing skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have:

  • ERP integration experience, ideally with Acumatica
  • CRM integration experience, ideally Salesforce
  • FastAPI experience
  • Jenkins experience
  • Docker or Kubernetes experience
  • AWS experience
  • YAML configuration experience
  • Zebra Enterprise Browser or ZPL experience for barcode and label formatting
  • ARGO CD experience
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding, including code generation, debugging, testing, and review

You are collaborative, investigative, technically strong, adaptable, and solutions-oriented. You are comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams, communicating technical guidance, listening to team feedback, and developing solutions that meet evolving business needs.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a small team of developers, distributing and prioritizing tasks within JIRA
  • Review and refine the JIRA backlog alongside the Business Systems Manager
  • Provide task estimates and support release planning
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions
  • Develop and maintain applications supporting manufacturing operations, inventory management, factory workflows, shipping processes, ERP integrations, APIs, and internal and external web platforms
  • Identify system bottlenecks and resolve defects
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code and maintain technical documentation in Confluence
  • Test and polish solutions prior to production release
  • Determine which completed changes will be included in each release
  • Provide constructive feedback, share technical knowledge, and support the growth of the development team
  • Collaborate with product managers, analysts, designers, and stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business objectives
  • Facilitate collaboration within the development team and across teams
  • Communicate technical ideas and solutions effectively in meetings and discussions
  • Engage with and understand team feedback
  • Support future integrations, including Salesforce for order and product management
  • Bring innovative ideas and approaches to continuously improve systems and processes
  • Our current tech stack includes Python, ReactJS, MySQL, and Kubernetes on AWS, with architectural and monitoring support shared with an external expert consultant.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Salary Range: $90,000 – $115,000 CAD annually, based on experience.
  • Profit Sharing Program: Rewarding your contribution to Longboard’s success.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health Spending and Lifestyle Spending Accounts, catastrophic coverage, travel insurance, and more.
