Approximately 25% travel will be required for the role, primarily within the assigned territory and as required to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support business development activities.

Client Relationship Management & Business Development

  • Work with Operations Managers and the Director of Sales to develop and execute a regional sales strategy, with a focus on key market segments such as data centers, renewable energy, utilities, manufacturing, commercial, and industrial markets.
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Leverage established industry relationships and professional networks to generate new leads and expand Magna IV's client base.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by understanding their business needs and providing solutions that align with their technical and operational requirements.
  • Represent Magna IV Engineering professionally and effectively when interacting with clients, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate business development activities with Operations, Project Management, Engineering, and Marketing teams to create a collaborative approach to client engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for proposals and lead the development, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing of proposals.
  • Develop proposals, including scope development, cost estimating, proposal writing, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Participate in pre-contract meetings and client presentations to strengthen Magna IV's position and build client confidence.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other teams across Magna IV's offices to share client intelligence and identify cross-selling and shared business opportunities.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and other professional events to expand Magna IV's presence and develop new relationships.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to identifying opportunities, developing relationships, and growing business within the assigned territory.
  • Build awareness of Magna IV's capabilities and position the organization as a trusted technical partner within the market.

Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth

  • Personally generate approximately 50–70% of regional sales, while maintaining oversight of all sales activity within the region, including opportunities generated by Project Managers and other team members.
  • Establish and maintain a strong sales pipeline to support regional revenue and growth objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Project Management to ensure successful transition of sold work into execution.
  • Participate in annual strategic planning, including the development of regional budgets and three-year sales targets.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on annual, quarterly, and monthly sales KPIs.
  • Provide regular sales pipeline, forecasting, and market updates to the Director of Sales and leadership team.
  • Identify emerging market trends and opportunities and recommend strategies to capitalize on them.
  • Support the continued growth and development of Magna IV's client base throughout Alberta and the broader Western Canadian market.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or a related sales leadership role, preferably within the electrical engineering, power systems, testing, commissioning, or technical services industry.
  • Strong understanding of high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical equipment and power delivery systems, including breakers, switchgear, protective relays, transformers, and related equipment.
  • Previous experience with electrical testing, commissioning, maintenance, engineering, or power systems is strongly preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and experience working within industrial, utility, commercial, manufacturing, renewable energy, or data center environments.
  • Experience selling technical services within the data center market is considered an asset.
  • Established relationships and contacts within the Alberta electrical, utility, industrial, commercial, or power systems markets are highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of generating new business, developing client relationships, and consistently achieving sales targets.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and develop team members to achieve business results.
  • Proven ability to communicate proactively and effectively with clients and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
