Job description

Vice President, Finance and Corporate Services

Nunavut Housing Corporation | Iqaluit, Nunavut | Full-time

About Nunavut Housing Corporation

The Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is an arm’s-length public agency of the Government of Nunavut (GN) and the driving force in housing policy, program delivery, and construction across Nunavut’s 25 communities. With an operating budget of more than $230 million and a capital budget of approximately $171 million, NHC is leading Nunavut 3000, an estimated $1.6 billion plan to build 3,000 new homes over 10 years.

About the Role

Reporting to the President & CEO and serving on the Corporate Executive Committee, the VP, Finance and Corporate Services leads finance, human resources, IT, and policy and strategic planning, with five direct reports and functional oversight for approximately 350 employees across 25 Local Housing Organizations (LHOs). The VP also serves as President & CEO as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial leadership: Steward NHC’s financial health, advise the executive team, and represent NHC with the GN, CMHC, Cabinet, the Financial Management Board, and the Legislature.
  • People and culture: Lead a newly established HR function and build a strong workforce, with a deliberate focus on Inuit employment, training, and development.
  • Technology: Oversee the systems and IT services that support NHC and all 25 LHOs, strengthening digital capacity and data security for growth.
  • Policy and strategy: Shape NHC’s policies, plans, and research, and support the Minister’s office.

    What We’re Looking For

  • A dynamic, transformational leader who will modernize and integrate corporate services, simplifying processes and raising performance as NHC grows.
  • Hands-on and ready to act, making an immediate impact by strengthening the finance function and building depth across the team.
  • An innovative, steady executive who brings fresh approaches to partnerships, funding, and procurement, and leads with confidence through change.
  • A coach and people builder who develops talent, especially Nunavut Inuit, and communicates complex issues clearly and respectfully.

    Qualifications

  • CPA designation and at least 10 years of progressive senior finance and management experience, ideally in the public sector, a Crown corporation, or housing.
  • Strong command of public-sector budgeting, financial administration, and audit.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the Nunavut Agreement, and the roles of Inuit organizations.
  • Housing experience and fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages are assets; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit who self-identify as being enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, in accordance with the GN Priority Hiring Policy.

Salary: $160,374 to $229,106 per year, plus Northern Allowance and subsidized housing.

Closing date: November 25, 2026
