You will thrive in a dynamic, international, and fast-paced environment where financial innovation and operational excellence go hand in hand.
Accountabilities:
- Digital Assets Accounting & Financial Reporting: Own the end-to-end accounting function for cryptocurrency and tokenization-related activities, including month-end and quarter-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls covering cryptocurrency transactions, digital assets, and related business activities.
- Oversee accounting for digital asset holdings, transfers, fees, settlements, and other cryptocurrency-related transactions, ensuring accurate and consistent financial treatment.
- Partner with crypto business leaders to assess new products, transaction flows, and business developments, providing guidance on accounting implications and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams to support regulatory reporting obligations and ensure alignment with applicable financial requirements.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable accounting solutions to accommodate increasing transaction volumes and business complexity.
- Audit Ownership & Regulatory Support: Lead external financial statement audits for the crypto business, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors and coordinating audit planning, documentation, supporting schedules, and deliverables.
- Address audit findings, implement remediation measures, strengthen internal accounting processes, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Support regulatory examinations, inquiries, and reporting requirements in collaboration with Legal and Compliance teams.
- Technical Accounting & Complex Transactions: Act as a key technical accounting resource across the organization, researching and evaluating complex and non-routine transactions under US GAAP.
- Prepare technical accounting memoranda outlining relevant accounting guidance, conclusions, and potential financial statement impacts.
- Advise Finance and business leadership on the accounting implications of new products, strategic initiatives, contracts, and complex commercial arrangements.
- Assess technical accounting matters involving revenue recognition, equity transactions, investments, business combinations, digital assets, and emerging financial reporting topics.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assess their potential impact, and coordinate the implementation of new accounting practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting and complex corporate accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, technical accounting research, and financial reporting standards.
- Proven experience managing month-end and quarter-end closing processes, preparing financial statements, and coordinating external financial audits.
- Previous experience in cryptocurrency, digital assets, fintech, financial services, or other environments involving complex financial transactions.
- Ability to independently research, evaluate, and document complex accounting matters and translate technical conclusions into practical recommendations.
- Experience designing, implementing, and improving accounting processes, procedures, and internal control frameworks.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across different departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a dynamic, evolving, and high-growth business environment.
- Additional advantages: CPA qualification combined with Big Four or national public accounting firm experience and industry exposure.
- Direct experience with cryptocurrency accounting, including digital asset transactions, reconciliations, custody arrangements, and associated reporting requirements.
- Experience supporting regulated financial institutions or cryptocurrency-related businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to lead financial statement audits and manage complex discussions with external auditors.
- Familiarity with SOC 1 and/or SOC 2 readiness, internal control frameworks, and audit evidence requirements.
- Experience implementing accounting automation, optimizing financial systems, or scaling accounting operations.
- Previous collaboration with senior leadership on new products, business initiatives, and complex commercial arrangements.
- Competitive salary package.
- Stock options, offering an opportunity to participate in the organization's growth.
- Comprehensive health benefits.
- One-time USD $500 home-office setup allowance for new hires.
- Monthly USD $150 stipend provided through a Brex card to support remote working expenses.
