Great Opportunity for a New Grad or Early-Career Professional!

We are partnering with an established and growing Saskatchewan-based financial services organization to recruit an AML Compliance Analyst to join its Saskatoon team.

If you’re a recent graduate or early in your career and enjoy research, problem-solving, working with data and figuring out why something doesn’t quite add up, this could be an excellent opportunity to build specialized experience in a growing area of financial services.

You do not need to come to the role with extensive AML experience. We’re much more interested in finding someone bright, curious, detail-oriented and eager to learn.

You’ll work alongside an experienced team and develop practical knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), customer due diligence, financial risk, regulatory compliance and financial investigations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll help protect the organization and ensure customer information and transactions meet regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will grow as you develop your knowledge and confidence.
  • Review new customer information and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Help verify customer identities and business ownership information.
  • Learn to complete customer risk assessments and identify potential risk indicators.
  • Conduct online research and review publicly available information.
  • Review customer and transaction activity and learn to recognize unusual patterns or inconsistencies.
  • Support sanctions, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) and listed-entity screening.
  • Investigate information that doesn’t appear to make sense and ask questions to help resolve it.
  • Enter, validate and maintain customer information within AML compliance systems.
  • Keep clear, accurate and well-organized documentation.
  • Assist with recurring compliance reporting, reviews and audits.
  • Work with colleagues across Credit, Sales, Finance and Operations to gather information and resolve questions.
  • Help identify opportunities to make processes more efficient as the organization’s AML program continues to evolve.

Who We’re Looking For

  • You may be a recent graduate, or you may have a year or two of experience and be looking for an opportunity to begin building a career in financial services, risk or compliance.
  • A diploma or degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, commerce, criminology, law, public policy or another relevant area – or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and genuine curiosity.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work carefully with data and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Confidence asking questions when something doesn’t make sense.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with Excel and learning new technology.
  • A professional, responsible approach to confidential information.
  • A desire to learn and build expertise in AML and financial compliance.

Previous experience in banking, credit, lending, financial services, fraud, risk, AML or compliance would be an asset.

What Will Make You Successful
You don’t need to know all the terminology on your first day. What matters most is that you’re someone who likes to understand the “why,” notices details other people might miss, asks thoughtful questions and follows things through to the answer.

There will be investigative and analytical work, but there will also be detailed data entry, record maintenance and documentation. Someone who enjoys both sides of the role will do particularly well here.

Why This Opportunity?

  • This is a newly created position and an opportunity to get into an increasingly important area of financial services.
  • Learn a specialized skill set in AML and regulatory compliance.
  • Gain exposure to different areas of the business.
  • Develop analytical, investigative and financial-services experience.
  • Work with an established team while gradually taking on greater responsibility.
  • Contribute ideas and help improve processes as the AML program develops.
  • Build experience that can lead to longer-term opportunities in compliance, risk, fraud prevention, financial investigations, credit or financial services.

If you’re at the beginning of your career and looking for an opportunity where you can learn, contribute and develop real expertise, we’d love to hear from you.
