Job Summary
The Queen’s Cue, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is seeking engaging and experienced Apothecaries - Bartenders to join our Food & Beverage team in Stratford.
Historically, an Apothecary was a skilled keeper and creator of carefully blended remedies, tinctures, and tonics - a fitting namesake for those crafting the pours and potions behind our bars.
From the crafted elegance of The Queen’s Bar to the spirited atmosphere of the Boar’s Head Pub, private dinners, and special events, our Apothecaries will help create distinctive experiences across the property. This role goes beyond making exceptional drinks - it is about reading the room, creating genuine connections, sharing the stories behind what we serve, and turning each visit into something guests remember.
Does this sound like you?
You have a natural sense of hospitality and know how to make guests feel welcome from the moment they take a seat at the bar. You take pride in a beautifully prepared drink, enjoy sharing your knowledge, and understand how thoughtful recommendations and small details can elevate the entire experience.
You remain composed and organized when service gets busy, balancing speed with accuracy and genuine guest interaction. You are equally comfortable crafting cocktails, discussing wine and beer, maintaining a polished bar, and working collaboratively with the wider Food & Beverage team. You bring personality, professionalism, and confidence to every shift and are comfortable working a variety of daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
What We Offer
- An exceptional benefit plan for eligible associates and your family members.
- RRSP matching program for eligible associates.
- Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance.
- Starting hourly rate of $18 per hour, plus applicable gratuities.
- Discounts at Crescent-managed properties across North America and Marriott hotels worldwide for you and your family members.
- 50% dining discount at The Queen’s Cue and the Boar’s Head Pub.
- A workplace you can be proud of, where you are valued, trusted, and supported by the team.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience in a restaurant, hotel, cocktail bar, or similar hospitality environment is strongly preferred.
- Valid Smart Serve certification is required.
- Valid Food Handler Certification is required.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, and responsible alcohol service.
- Ability to prepare beverages consistently according to established recipes, presentation standards, and service expectations.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage guests, make recommendations, and create genuine connections.
- Ability to manage multiple guests and orders in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience using POS systems and handling guest payments accurately.
- Strong organization and cleanliness standards, including maintaining a fully stocked and service-ready bar.
- Ability to safely lift, move, carry, and place items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to support events, private functions, and other Food & Beverage operations as required.
- Flexibility to work daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
We welcome applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process. This posting represents a current vacancy and Crescent Hotels & Resorts does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, and/or select applicants.
At Crescent Hotels & Resorts we strive to create a great place to work where associates at all levels of our organization are respected for their differences, just like the guests and owners we serve. That’s why we are dedicated to creating an environment that facilitates open and honest conversations about race, equity, diversity, and inclusion. By examining our own beliefs and behaviors, we can create change through training, recruiting, and promoting diverse talent to strengthen our culture.
