Job description

About the Company

At Millboard, we're not just crafting exceptional outdoor living solutions; we're building a legacy. Our team is driven by innovation, sustainability, and a relentless commitment to quality.

Millboard is a leader in premium outdoor living solutions, producing high-performance decking and cladding used worldwide. As we continue to expand our international footprint, the continued build of a dynamic network of installers, resellers, and brand partners who share our passion for exceptional customer experiences is key to success.

This is your opportunity to shape that network and be a driving force in the sustainable growth of Millboard in this high opportunity territory.

About the Role

The Business Development Manager's mission is to drive sustainable commercial growth by creating demand through contractors, installers and architects, turning them into Brand ambassadors for Millboard.

The role blends market development and relationship management to build sales influence at trade and project level. Contractors, installers and architects are critical points of decision and drive demand for Millboard. Resellers carry their own demand-generating responsibilities and play an equally vital role in the consumer journey, converting demand into sales, so this role also requires building an influential relationship with reseller partners. The objective is to build Millboard's presence and preference across all key trades, so that Millboard becomes the default recommendation from specification through to installation.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Ambassador Network

  • Identify and activate high-potential contractors, installers, architects and other key trades to represent Millboard.
  • Strengthen engagement with key trades across Ontario, turning them into genuine brand ambassadors who advocate for Millboard.
  • Equip partners with the tools and knowledge to advocate for Millboard over alternative products.

Sales & Growth Enablement

  • Work closely with contractors, installers, architects, carpenters, builders, resellers and other trade and specification professionals who influence material selection, to drive market penetration and pull-through demand.
  • Identify regional opportunities and support targeted expansion plans.
  • Ensure a seamless customer journey from architect to reseller to installer to homeowner.
  • Maintain structured engagement cycles with key contacts across all trade and specification audiences, and ensure disciplined CRM usage with accurate records of visits, interactions, and pipeline opportunities.

Reseller Collaboration

  • Build an influential relationship with reseller partners, ensuring they are equipped and motivated to convert demand generated through contractors and installers.
  • Organise training, demo days and brand onboarding days in collaboration with reseller partners.
  • Train reseller teams in product knowledge, customer experience and brand standards.
  • Support partners in delivering a consistent premium brand experience.

Project & Market Support

  • Influence project specification and support conversion.
  • Provide technical expertise to architects, specifiers, designers, builders, installers, and homeowners.
  • Build relationships within the specification community to drive early-stage product selection and increase Millboard's presence on project drawings and material schedules.

Installer Programme Ownership

  • Own and run Millboard's improved installer programme, building and growing the network of Certified Installers across Ontario.
  • Deliver product training, installation coaching, and onboarding workshops.
  • Provide on-site support, troubleshoot technical issues, and uphold installation standards.

What You Bring

  • Extensive experience in technical, trade-facing, specification, or business development roles within the construction or building materials sector.
  • Hands-on capability and confidence delivering technical demonstrations.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify sales opportunities.
  • Self-driven, organised, and comfortable managing a broad and varied trade network. This is a role that requires someone who operates independently and takes full ownership of their responsibilities.
  • A professional with the presence to engage architects, designers, and high-end home builders with confidence.
  • Experience operating in premium commercial environments, representing a premium Brand.
  • Willingness to travel regularly as required. An existing network within the Ontario building materials, decking, or cladding sector is a significant advantage.
  • Energy, authenticity, and passion for helping trade and specification partners succeed.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Shape Millboard's growth in a key territory.
  • Work with a premium global brand known for innovation.
  • Build and influence an engaged network of contractors, installers, architects, and reseller partners.
  • Enjoy a varied, hands-on role that blends strategy, field engagement and training.
