Job description

The future you want is within reach. Let's build it together.

At PCL Constructors Inc., part of the PCL Family of Companies (PCL), we don't just build projects -- we build opportunities, careers and communities. We are 100% employee-owned, every employee has a stake in our success, and that shared commitment drives how we work, grow and lead in the construction industry.

We're a team of builders who care deeply about what we create and who we build with. That includes you. We are not only shaping the future of construction, we are also committed to shaping the future of your career.

This is not a traditional Business Systems Analyst role focused on maintaining an existing application. You'll be part of a team building and evolving a custom industrial construction ERP that will help shape how PCL plans, executes, tracks and delivers some of its most complex projects.

The platform brings together critical industrial construction processes such as workface planning, production tracking, quality, materials management, document control and turnover. Your work will help determine how those processes connect, how information moves between teams and systems, and how project teams understand what is happening in the field.

The scale and impact of this work are significant. The decisions you help make will influence how people across PCL's industrial projects plan work, manage materials, track installation and quality, understand progress, coordinate across disciplines and ultimately turn completed work over to our clients. You'll work directly with the people who build our projects, understand the challenges they face and translate those needs into practical digital solutions. This is an opportunity to help build more than software. You'll help establish the digital foundation that supports how PCL delivers industrial construction.

Why Choose PCL?

Choose a career with rewards that matter. PCL's total rewards are designed to support your growth, well-being and future success -- because when you succeed, we all do. Our offerings could include:

  • Employee ownership opportunities that build long-term value
  • Annual discretionary performance bonuses
  • RRSP, TFSA, Pension Contribution Options
  • Flexible medical, dental and vision benefits
  • Prescription drug coverage and virtual care services
  • Life, AD&D and disability insurance
  • Paid parental leave and family care support
  • Health and lifestyle spending account options
  • Mental health and wellness support, including Employee Assistance Programs
  • Career growth pathways, leadership development and mentorship programs
  • Access to world-class training through PCL's College of Construction and professional development courses
  • Ongoing opportunities to learn new skills, explore different roles and grow your career across sectors and regions

Here's how a Business Systems Analyst for PCL Constructors Inc. within Edmonton NAHQ contributes to our team:

This role is being offered as a 12-month contract.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business and system requirements for complex industrial construction processes, including workface planning, production, quality, materials management, document control and turnover.
  • Works directly with project teams, subject matter experts and construction leadership to deeply understand how work is planned and executed in the field, including current-state processes, constraints, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Helps design an integrated digital solution spanning multiple construction functions rather than approaching individual requirements or applications in isolation.
  • Gathers, documents, designs, validates, and gains sign-off on business and system requirements.
  • Translates operational needs into clear requirements, business rules, process models, use cases, and user stories that can be understood by both construction and technology teams.
  • Partners closely with technical teams throughout solution design and development to ensure solutions address the underlying business need and operate effectively as part of the broader platform.
  • Identifies integration and data requirements between production, quality, materials, documents, planning, asset and other project systems.
  • Assesses the impact of proposed changes across construction workflows, roles, resource planning, equipment usage, data, reporting and downstream processes.
  • Facilitates workshops and builds consensus among project teams, subject matter experts, leadership, technology teams and external vendors.
  • Builds trusted relationships with both frontline personnel and senior leadership and acts as a connection point between operations and technology.
  • Challenges existing approaches where appropriate and works with stakeholders to develop practical solutions that improve the way projects are delivered.
  • Ensures technology solutions reflect construction site realities, including usability, safety, quality, productivity and connectivity considerations.
  • Validates solution designs and system configurations against business and system requirements.
  • Develops test scenarios and participates in testing to identify issues and confirm that delivered functionality meets intended requirements.
  • Develops use cases, user stories, process documentation, training materials and supporting documentation.
  • Leads or supports training rollouts for subject matter experts, project teams and operations personnel.
  • Develops and executes change management activities that support adoption, minimize resistance and help project teams transition successfully to new ways of working.
  • Provides customer-focused support and uses feedback from users to identify opportunities for continued improvement.
  • Works independently across multiple initiatives while maintaining alignment with the overall product and business vision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of business analysis experience.
  • Post-secondary education in information systems, information technology, business administration, commerce, computing science or a related field.
  • Experience working on the design, development or implementation of complex, integrated business systems, rather than solely supporting established applications.
  • Industrial construction experience or experience with systems supporting workface planning, production, quality, materials, document management, asset tracking, turnover or similar operational processes is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex operational processes into business and system requirements.
  • Experience working across multiple business processes and understanding how decisions in one functional area affect downstream teams, data and systems.
  • Practical knowledge of software implementations, software development life cycle methodologies, business process re-engineering and organizational change management.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with frontline users, subject matter experts, technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to communicate complex business and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, operations-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with aggressive project schedules and evolving requirements.
  • Able to develop creative solutions that balance operational needs, technology constraints and the broader product vision.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multiple initiatives in parallel.
  • Positive attitude with a strong commitment to project and team success.
