Experience Avail

At Avail CPA, we believe great work happens through collaboration. With over 90 years of experience and a growing team of 160+ professionals across Alberta and British Columbia, we help our clients and communities thrive through expert advice, genuine care, and innovative solutions.

We're currently seeking a Client Accounting Supervisor to support our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) team. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong month-end and reporting expertise and is ready to lead. That could be a newly designated CPA or an exceptional accounting professional working toward their designation. We'd love to have this person in our Lethbridge office, but we're also open to remote candidates in Alberta or Saskatchewan.

If you enjoy owning the close, building trusted client relationships, and helping a growing team do its best work, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Plan, carry out, and manage month-end closes for a portfolio of clients, including complex engagements.
  • Review reconciliations, transactions, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare or review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, payroll entries, and loan balances.
  • Process complex payroll and related reconciliations when required.
  • Prepare, review, and file GST/PST returns.
  • Maintain reporting dashboards and deliver timely financial information.
  • Prepare initial commentary on significant results and variances.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day accounting and reporting contact for clients.
  • Assign and review the work of junior team members and provide practical guidance and coaching.
  • Monitor deadlines, resolve workflow issues, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Follow Avail's CAAS processes and recommend workflow improvements.
  • Provide client training on accounting processes and systems when required.

What We're Looking For

  • CPA designation preferred. Strong candidates without a designation will also be considered.
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting
  • Experience in public practice or a client accounting services environment is an asset
  • Experience reviewing, supervising, or mentoring junior staff
  • Solid working knowledge of payroll, remittances, and GST/PST
  • Advanced working knowledge of online accounting, receipt-capture, and practice management software
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple client deadlines and priorities
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication, with strong client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and stay connected with the team and clients, including when working remotely
  • Discretion with confidential client and financial information

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and responsibilities
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, and vision)
  • Summer hours: four-day work weeks with Fridays off
  • A collaborative team culture where connection and transparency matter
  • The chance to grow your career while leading a talented team
