Job description

Job Title: Local Class 1 Delivery Professional
Location: Greater Victoria & Southern Vancouver Island (including Sooke, Saanich Peninsula, and occasional Cowichan Valley runs)
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 10-hour shifts (40 hours per week)

Are you a Class 1 Driver who thrives on an active, hands-on schedule rather than staring at miles of open highway?

If you value job stability, love interacting with customers, and want to be a core part of a supportive team, we are looking for you. Express Employment Professionals, on behalf of our client company is seeking experienced local drivers who take genuine pride in their work and understand that a great delivery experience goes far beyond just driving the truck.

The Opportunity
This is a fully local, fast-paced role where you will handle multi-stop routes (typically 8 to 15 stops daily) throughout the Greater Victoria area and Southern Vancouver Island. We don't do curbside drop-offs; our drivers take full ownership of the freight, unloading pallets and using hand carts to deliver items directly inside the customer’s business.

Your day will be a healthy mix of:

Operating the vehicle safely and efficiently.

Unloading palletized freight using proper techniques.

Physically moving products into customer locations via hand carts.

Building relationships through regular, face-to-face customer interaction.

While this is a physically demanding job that requires effort and professionalism, it offers the reward of predictable routes, steady local work, and the autonomy to own your schedule.

The Equipment You’ll Use
We believe drivers should focus on the road, not mechanical issues. We support our team with:

A modern, highly reliable fleet backed by a strict maintenance program.

A phased replacement plan ensuring you are always driving newer, upgraded equipment.

Well-kept trailers to keep your routes running without interruptions.

In-cab technology—including electronic DVIRs, digital signature capture, and route optimization—designed to reduce paperwork and keep your day moving smoothly.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

Valid Class 1 Driver’s License and a clean driving abstract.

At least 6 months of recent Class 1 driving experience.

Ability to comfortably lift up to 45 lbs on a regular basis.

Must be eligible to pass a standard background check (bondable).

Strong communication skills and a natural customer-service mindset.

What You Can Expect From Our Client Company

Compensation: $33.35/hr - Competitive hourly pay, comprehensive benefits, safe-driving bonuses, and overtime opportunities.

Work-Life Balance: 100% local routes—no long-haul, no overnight trips, and no travel off the island.

Consistency: Primarily weekday daytime shifts with routes that stay consistent week-to-week, allowing you to build strong client relationships.

Training & Support: A full onboarding and training program to set you up for success. We are a team-oriented environment; you will never be left to figure things out alone.
