  • Prepare conceptual budgets and assist with cost planning during the pre-construction phase.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, consultants, architects, and senior leadership.
  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
  • Monitor market conditions, labour costs, material pricing, and subcontractor availability.
  • Support project turnover from estimating into construction, ensuring a smooth transition of budgets, scopes, assumptions, and commitments.
  • Assist with change-order pricing and cost analysis as required.
  • Manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably with a General Contractor.
  • Strong experience estimating commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with industrial, warehouse, tenant improvement, institutional, or other commercial building projects is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and BC construction practices.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of subcontractor scopes, construction costs, labour, materials, and current market pricing.
  • Experience with quantity take-offs, tender preparation, bid analysis, and subcontractor negotiations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with estimating and construction software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, SmartBid, or similar platforms.
