  • Immediately report equipment defects, malfunctions, or repair requirements to the supervisor.
  • Maintain awareness of all site conditions that may impact safe operations, including overhead utilities, other workers, mobile equipment, and pedestrian traffic.
  • Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on deck mechanical and hydraulic systems associated with derricks, cranes, and barges.
  • Maintain accurate crane logbooks, inspection records, and documentation in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with WorkSafeBC, company policies, and industry safety standards.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating cranes in marine and heavy civil construction environments.
  • Experience with pile driving, dredging, and rock or material placement in marine applications is required.
  • Experience operating friction cranes and marine derrick equipment is considered a strong asset.

  • Valid Crane Operator Certification (Provincial Certification or Red Seal equivalent).
  • Marine Basic First Aid and MED A3, Level 2, or Level 3 certifications are considered assets.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in the operation of cranes, heavy equipment, loaders, excavators, and marine construction equipment.
  • Strong understanding of crane assembly, capacity calculations, rigging requirements, and safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Working knowledge of local waterways and marine operating conditions.
