About the role

Come join our Shared Services organization to tackle Intact's most complex challenges, bringing our software engineering practices and tooling to the bleeding edge.

This position is part of our tech modernization & evolution initiative, a small group entirely dedicated to supporting our product squads in their continuous improvement by advising them, by providing them with training and support, and by selecting & building the tools and platforms that they will then leverage, amongst many other things!

Joining this squad offers the opportunity of contributing to an elite group of like-minded and passionate tech professionals, moving at a fast pace and under high autonomy, to achieve our most ambitious technological goals.

Our Shared Services organization is composed of the most varied selection of platforms and technologies at Intact, from mainframe systems to on-premises and cloud-hosted commercial solutions.

We also built and maintain numerous custom applications & products over the following stack:

  • RESTful Java microservices (Spring Boot), deployed to OpenShift.
  • Event-Driven architecture using Kafka or IBM MQ.
  • SPA frontends using Angular.
  • Automated tests using WireMock, TestContainers, Playwright, and Cucumber (BDD).
  • Integrated environments blending Jenkins Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Intact's very own platform.
  • Observability through Dynatrace, Grafana, and Elastic Stack.
  • On-premises infrastructure progressively migrating to public Cloud hosts, AWS (ECS/EKS) and GCP (GKE).
  • AI-assisted development using Agentic Coding frameworks, such as CoPilot and Devin.
  • Data stores spanning multiple types & technologies, most notably MSSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

Don't take the above as hard requirements - if your experience happens to be on a similar stack and that you have all the necessary transferrable skills to be successful in this role, please proceed and apply!

As a DevOps Developer on the modernization & evolution squad, your role will be to assist and lead our product squads into their continuous improvement journey, by:

  • Implementing tools & automations to facilitate the products squads' evolution.
  • Reviewing the software promotion & delivery practices, offering feedback and identifying opportunities.
  • Contributing to the organization's technological & transformation roadmap.
  • Providing training on new tools and practices; both Intact's and from the industry.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technological developments that are relevant to our context.
  • Demystifying complex concepts and ideas and breaking down complicated solutions into approachable steps.
  • Providing mentorship and serving as a close contact point to the squads' technical leaders.

What you bring to the table:

  • A passion for technology, for improving things, and for expanding your own knowledge by looking under the hood of the tools, frameworks, and languages you use - show us what you've created & studied!
  • An interest in keeping up with the industry's latest trends and advances.
  • A vision of how the software engineering practices and landscape is changing, where it is heading, and a vision of how to get there.
  • A desire to lead the charge in changing things for the better and challenging status quo - if you won't bother, nobody else will!
  • Bachelor of software engineering, computer science, or any other combination of equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of industry experience, with a successful track record in a similar technical leadership role.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
