What you'll be doing

As a key member of the Distribution Strategy team for Personal Banking and Imperial Service, you’ll help shape the strategy and priorities for CIBC’s banking centre and advisor channels. Reporting to the Senior Director, Distribution Strategy & Enablement, you’ll lead high-priority strategic and financial management work that supports growth, productivity, and stronger client and advisor experiences. Under the new CIBC Way operating model, the Distribution Strategy team supports the Banking Centre Distribution & Mass Affluent domain and is part of the Portfolio Value & Financial Management Centre of Excellence. In this role, you’ll connect channel strategy with portfolio-level insights and investment decisions, identify opportunities, and develop data-driven recommendations that help senior leaders prioritize investments and maximize value. You’ll partner with Crew Leads, Product Owners, Squads, Finance, and other Centres of Excellence to advance strategic priorities. You’ll also lead complex research and analysis, create materials for senior executive forums, and help strengthen the Centre of Excellence’s capabilities, operating practices, and talent.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategy development and decision support - Lead the development and evolution of strategies for CIBC’s banking centre and advisor channels. Connect client, market, operational, and financial insights to identify growth and productivity opportunities, establish strategic priorities, and inform multi-year roadmaps.
  • Financial management and benefit sizing - Lead rigorous financial and quantitative assessments of priority initiatives. Apply consistent methodologies, assumptions, tools, and benchmarks to evaluate expected benefits, test the reasonableness of estimates, and strengthen the quality and credibility of investment decisions.
  • Portfolio governance and performance insights - Establish an integrated view of the Banking Centre Distribution & Mass Affluent portfolio, including expected and realized benefits, efficiencies, capacity, key performance indicators, and strategic outcomes. Translate portfolio-level insights into recommendations that support prioritization, sequencing, and resourcing decisions.
  • Cross-functional collaboration - Partner effectively with Crew Leads, Product Owners, Squads, Finance, Technology, and other Centres of Excellence. Provide strategic and financial expertise, constructive challenge, and decision support while maintaining clear accountabilities across teams.
  • Executive communication and storytelling - Synthesize complex financial, strategic, and operational information into clear, compelling narratives. Develop executive materials that articulate the opportunity, supporting evidence, options, trade-offs, recommendations, and expected impact.
  • Leadership and capability building - Provide thought leadership across strategic and financial management priorities while helping strengthen the Centre of Excellence’s capabilities, ways of working, and shared knowledge.

Who you are

  • You have a degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field. A Master of Business Administration, Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant, or another relevant advanced degree or professional designation is an asset.
  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex and ambiguous problems, bringing structure and clarity to uncertainty, and transforming insights into practical recommendations. You can develop and assess financial models, test assumptions, and evaluate the benefits, costs, risks, and trade-offs associated with investment decisions.
  • Your influence makes a difference. You can navigate a complex matrix organization, understand different stakeholder perspectives, and build alignment across senior leaders and cross-functional partners. You influence outcomes with confidence, sound judgment, and strong communication.
  • You are a caring and accountable leader. You have experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You have experience coaching employees and inspiring successful team performance.
  • You're digitally savvy. You have advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel and can develop high-quality executive materials and robust financial and analytical models. Experience with data visualization, analytics, or artificial intelligence-enabled productivity tools is an asset.
