Job description
Do you thrive in a fast-paced project environment where keeping materials moving is mission-critical? As an Expeditor/Buyer at Ledcor, you will manage the full procurement lifecycle — from sourcing and purchase order issuance through supplier follow-up, delivery coordination, and post-award issue resolution. You will be the key connection point between project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring materials, equipment, and services arrive on time and in alignment with project schedules.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Procurement, you will bring at least two years of procurement experience in construction, industrial, or a related environment, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities without missing a beat. You are proactive in identifying supply and delivery risks, confident communicating status and recovery plans, and comfortable working within established approval processes while managing a high volume of day-to-day procurement activity.

This role will be rotational, based in Fort Saskatchewan. Come and join the True Blue team and build your career with one of Canada's most established construction companies.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Proactively expedite supplier documentation, materials, and equipment in accordance with purchase order requirements and project schedules — maintaining accurate forecasted delivery dates and monitoring progress from order award through receipt
  • Coordinate delivery requirements with vendors, project teams, warehouse personnel, and site stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate communication of material status throughout the procurement cycle
  • Identify and communicate potential supply, documentation, and delivery risks to project stakeholders; provide regular procurement and expediting status reports and support recovery planning when commitments or schedules are at risk
  • Execute routine procurement of materials, equipment, and services — obtaining competitive quotes, evaluating pricing and delivery terms, and issuing purchase orders in alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Create and manage purchase orders with accuracy and completeness, supporting basic commercial review of supplier terms and escalating negotiations as required
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendors, ensuring timely processing and payment of supplier invoices
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to support reliable delivery, documentation, and service quality; assist in identifying new suppliers and escalate performance or capacity concerns when needed
  • Ensure all procurement and expediting activities comply with company policies, client requirements, ethical sourcing practices, and audit and documentation standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of procurement experience in construction, industrial, or a related project-based environment; exposure to heavy civil, mining, or industrial construction projects is a strong asset
  • College diploma or technical certification is required; a bachelor's degree or SCMP designation is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, expediting, and commercial practices, including purchase order administration and supplier performance management
  • Experience with procurement and ERP systems such as Coupa, JD Edwards, Smart Materials, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, for reporting, data tracking, and procurement documentation
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to coordinate across project teams, vendors, freight providers, and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance, ethical sourcing, and process adherence, with a detail-oriented approach to documentation and audit readiness

Work Environment

  • Site-based role with travel requirements of less than 25% of time; work location will vary based on active project assignments
  • This is an 18-month fixed term assignment.
