CHIMO: Where What You Do Matters for A Lifetime.
Days, evenings and weekends
Sometimes a young adult just needs someone alongside them for a while. Could that be you?
Chimo's new Youth in Transition (YIT) Program supports young adults aged 18 to 24 as they leave government care. Our Transition Coordinators provide short-term, goal-focused 1:1 support for up to 90 days at a time: coaching someone through a housing application or a budget until they can do it themselves, staying steady through a crisis, building a safety plan, or working through whatever is getting in the way of taking part in our group programming. Our first young adults arrive in early November.
What you'll do
- Build a working relationship quickly with each young adult referred to you
- Help them make real progress on their goals, step by practical step
- Connect them with community supports, and with our group programming where it fits, so the progress lasts
- Support group programming sessions when your caseload allows
What you bring
- A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related human services field
- At least a year supporting youth or young adults with complex needs
- Patience, organization, and the ability to stay calm when things get hard
- Lived experience of care or of the transition to adulthood? That's an asset here.
Good to know: You'll need a clear Intervention Record and Police Information (Vulnerable Sector) checks. We provide the training you'll need before you start working with young adults.
This role involves driving, so you'll need
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- to provide proven experience as a Driver (minimum 3 years driving and insurance history).
- to provide current auto insurance with $2 million liability and business use coverage with no at-fault accident claims in the past 3 years.
- to be eligibility for fleet insurance approval (driver's abstract must not have more than 2 convictions).
We believe in supporting the people who make a difference every day. As a member of our team, you'll enjoy:
- Membership on a supportive team of skilled and passionate professionals dedicated to helping children, youth, and families reach their greatest potential.
- Paid vacation starting at twelve (15) days per year.
- Paid sick and wellness leave equivalent to eight (10) days per year.
- Comprehensive health benefits following the successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.
- Dental coverage after one (1) year of employment.
- A Health Spending Account (HSA) to help cover eligible health-related expenses after the probationary period.
- Access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), offering confidential counselling and wellness resources for employees and their immediate families.
- Opportunities for ongoing professional development, training, and career growth.
- Invitations to agency events, training and development, staff appreciation activities, celebrations.
- A collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where your leadership and contributions make a meaningful impact every day.
Job opening remains until suitable applicant is found.
