Job description

HR Generalist

McCoy Global

Who Are We?

Over a century ago, blacksmith Henry McCoy established the Edmonton Auto Spring Works in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Back in 1914, the name McCoy meant a commitment to quality; and that, along with a desire to continually innovate, is what we stand for today.

KEEPING AHEAD OF THE CURVE

Always ahead of the curve, we’ve evolved from auto springs, axle manufacturing, trucking, and trailers, to hydraulic power tongs, advanced engineering for wellbore integrity, data acquisition for harsh environments, and cloud-based automated Smart technology solutions. Our evolution has been relentless – just the way we love it.

LEADING CHANGE

All along the way, we have aggressively embraced change to support our customers at every turn, anticipating their needs and delivering highly customized solutions. It is no surprise that our company today bears little resemblance to the blacksmith shop of 1914.

AN UNWAVERING FOCUS

Yet it is also no surprise that our spirit remains fundamentally unchanged: our focus on quality and customization ensures the products and services we provide live up to our promises, so you can live up to yours.

What We Need:

Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, the HR Generalist is responsible for managing and supporting a broad range of human resources functions, including full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, HR administration, performance management, employee engagement, policy implementation, and payroll backup.

  • Experience advising and supporting managers on HR policies, employee concerns, and workplace matters.
  • Exposure to payroll processing and employee engagement initiatives is preferred.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, establish recruitment priorities, and ensure timely hiring decisions.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and provide regular updates on hiring status and recruitment metrics.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, employment documentation, and introduction to company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for routine employee and manager HR inquiries.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, workplace expectations, and employment practices.
  • Support managers with employee relations matters, performance concerns, attendance issues, and workplace conflict.
  • Assist with employee investigations, documentation, and follow-up actions as required.

  • Administer employee changes, including promotions, transfers, leaves, and terminations.
  • Communicate HR policies, procedures, and updates to employees and managers.
  • Support the review and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR documentation and administrative processes are completed in accordance with company requirements and applicable employment legislation.
  • Coordinate annual and periodic performance review processes.
  • Support managers with performance improvement plans and employee performance documentation.
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and workplace initiatives.
  • Support employee communications, engagement surveys, and feedback processes.
  • Assist with initiatives that promote employee satisfaction, retention, and a positive workplace culture.

  • Provide backup support for payroll processing during scheduled absences or periods of increased workload.

Knowledge & Competence:

  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle recruitment, talent acquisition, candidate selection, and onboarding practices.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and practices, including employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, and HR administration.
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment legislation, HR policies, workplace standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of payroll processes, employee compensation records, and the importance of payroll accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple HR responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to work effectively with employees, managers, and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills, with the ability to recognize when sensitive or complex matters require escalation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining employee records, recruitment documentation, payroll information, and HR reports.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
