  • Complete assigned maintenance safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.
  • Identify equipment deterioration early and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support successful shutdowns, equipment installations, and reliable startups.

  • Additional Education Preferred: Training in precision maintenance, shaft alignment, bearing installation, lubrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, or rigging.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Industrial mechanics, millwrighting, mechanical maintenance, mechanical engineering technology, or a related mechanical trade.
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum three years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment. Experience in cement manufacturing, mining, aggregates, pulp and paper, steel, or similar continuous-process operations is preferred. Experience should include troubleshooting, rotating-equipment repair, bearing replacement, alignment, and planned shutdown work.
  • Required Training/Certifications:

  • Must hold a valid Nova Scotia or Interprovincial Industrial Mechanic’s Ticket.
  • Completion of required plant training before performing assigned work, including energy isolation, WHMIS, and task-specific safety procedures.

  • Welding qualifications where required for the work performed.
  • Required Technical Skills:
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment.
  • Bearing installation, shaft alignment, coupling assembly, and precision measurement.
  • Practical knowledge of lubrication, power transmission, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and technical instructions.
  • Competent use of hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to document work in a computerized maintenance management system; SAP experience preferred.
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, teamwork, and ownership of work quality.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the role, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
  • Travel Requirements: Primarily based at the Brookfield Cement Plant. Proposed travel requirement: less than 5% for training or occasional support at other locations, with overnight travel expected to be infrequent.

Additional Requirements:
