Interested in building your career in telecommunications and working with the technology that keeps communities and businesses connected?
We’re recruiting for a growing telecommunications provider looking to add a Junior Systems Engineer to its technical team in Regina. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with network infrastructure, and developing their skills alongside experienced engineering professionals.

Whether you’ve gained your experience through a telecommunications provider, network operations centre, or technical networking role, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing network while continuing to build your technical expertise.

The Role

As Junior Systems Engineer, you’ll support the operation, maintenance, and continued expansion of the company’s telecommunications network. Working alongside senior technical team members, you’ll assist with network configuration, troubleshooting, system upgrades, and infrastructure projects that help deliver reliable connectivity to customers.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of routers, switches, and other telecommunications network equipment.
  • Support network monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of connectivity and performance issues.
  • Participate in network expansion projects, equipment upgrades, and new service deployments.
  • Assist with testing and commissioning network equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support IP networking, routing, switching, and network connectivity solutions.
  • Work closely with network engineers, field technicians, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, equipment configurations, and technical documentation.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve network performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop your technical knowledge through hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to evolving telecommunications technologies.

The Person
We’re looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, a genuine interest in telecommunications, and the curiosity to understand how networks operate and how to make them better.
Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Post-secondary education in computer systems technology, networking, telecommunications, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 1–3 years of experience in telecommunications, network operations, network administration, or a related technical role.
  • A good understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and IP addressing.
  • Familiarity with networking equipment such as Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, or similar technologies.
  • Exposure to network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, or MPLS would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of fiber-optic networks and broadband connectivity would be beneficial.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with technical and operational teams.
  • A willingness to learn, take initiative, and develop professionally.

Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, or CompTIA Network+ would be considered assets.

Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a growing telecommunications organization and gain valuable hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure that connects communities and businesses.
You’ll work with experienced technical professionals, contribute to meaningful network projects, and develop skills that can support your long-term growth in network engineering and telecommunications.
For someone who enjoys technology, problem-solving, and being part of a team that’s building and maintaining critical infrastructure, this is an opportunity worth exploring. Compensation for this role is between $70,000 – $90,000 based on experience.
