Title: Liquor Store Supervisor

Location:Moosomin, SK

Reporting to: Liquor Store Manager

Schedule: Full-Time | Shifts Scheduled Between 10:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. | Every Other Weekend Required

Our Client

Our client is a long-standing co-operative operating across southeastern Saskatchewan. What began as a small local operation has grown into a multi-division retail organization with locations supporting agriculture, fuel, food, liquor, and home and building supplies.

Their locations are part of the daily rhythm of the communities around them. Farmers stop in before heading to the field, families fuel up on their way through town, and regular customers know the staff behind the counter by name.

Across the organization you will find experienced teams and leaders who run their locations with clear expectations and strong operational standards. Many employees have been with the co-operative for years, creating an environment where knowledge is shared, new staff are supported, and people understand the importance of the work they do in their communities.

The Opportunity

A well-run liquor store requires a team that knows its priorities, looks after its customers, and pays attention to the details.

As the Liquor Store Supervisor, you'll help lead a small, welcoming team where people work together and look out for one another. Working closely with the Liquor Store Manager, you'll provide direction to employees, coordinate daily priorities, and ensure the store is organized, well stocked, and ready for customers. You'll be actively involved on the floor, helping customers, receiving merchandise, replenishing shelves, and supporting the team wherever needed.

You'll take on inventory administration, investigate discrepancies, and help keep operations on track when the Liquor Store Manager is away. You'll need to think on your feet, work well with others, and take initiative when something needs attention. You'll also have a manager who values open communication, welcomes ideas, and appreciates a little humour in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

As the Liquor Store Supervisor, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:

1. Store Operations & Merchandising

  • Coordinate daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, merchandising activities, and maintaining operational standards.
  • Conduct regular store walkthroughs to monitor cleanliness, organization, safety, and merchandise presentation.
  • Oversee merchandise receiving, stocking, product rotation, and the presentation of regular, promotional, and seasonal displays.
  • Maintain an organized sales floor, warehouse, and refrigerated storage areas, participating in stocking, merchandise handling, and general store upkeep.

2. Inventory & Administrative Support

  • Complete inventory administration, including invoice entry, weekly stock counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, document damaged merchandise, and process adjustments according to company procedures.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and communicate replenishment needs to the Liquor Store Manager.
  • Assist with cash reconciliation, opening and closing paperwork, and other administrative responsibilities as required.

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide direction to liquor store employees, assign daily priorities, and follow up to ensure responsibilities are completed.
  • Support employee orientation, training, and adherence to customer service and operational procedures.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and address concerns in coordination with the Liquor Store Manager.
  • Lead by example, working alongside employees to complete store duties and support the team during busy periods.

4. Customer Service, Safety & Compliance

  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service, respond to product inquiries, and resolve customer concerns professionally.
  • Ensure responsible liquor service practices are followed, including age verification and refusing service when required.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable liquor regulations, workplace safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Monitor store security, equipment conditions, and inventory loss prevention, reporting concerns and assisting with corrective action when necessary.

Qualifications

As the Liquor Store Supervisor, you will possess the following qualities:

The Essentials (Hard Skills):

  • 3+ years of relevant customer service experience, preferably within retail or a comparable environment.
  • Previous experience supervising, leading, or coordinating employees in a retail or customer-facing setting.
  • Experience with retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, cash handling, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Ability to complete inventory-related administrative tasks, including invoice entry, stock counts, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, basic computer applications, and retail inventory software.
  • Grade 12 education and the ability to obtain and maintain SIRS certification before performing liquor sales duties.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and handling merchandise weighing at least 50 lbs, frequent bending and twisting, and prolonged periods of standing or walking, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Comfort working regularly in refrigerated cooler environments and availability for rotating shifts, including evenings and every second weekend.
  • Previous liquor retail experience and knowledge of responsible service regulations are considered assets.

The Intangibles (Soft Skills):

  • Takes initiative to recognize what needs attention, organize priorities, and follow through without constant direction.
  • Uses critical thinking and resourcefulness to solve problems independently, while recognizing when to involve management.
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully, providing direction, supporting employees, and addressing performance concerns constructively.
  • Leads by example, working alongside the team and actively participating in store operations rather than simply delegating tasks.
  • Maintains strong organization and attention to detail while balancing competing priorities, customer service, and operational standards.

What Our Client Offers

  • Leadership Opportunity - An opportunity to take on supervisory responsibilities, contribute to store operations, and support a small retail team.
  • Consistent Full-Time Employment - A regular rotating schedule with primarily afternoon and evening shifts and every second weekend.
  • Supportive Team Environment - A welcoming workplace with approachable leadership, strong communication, and employees who help one another.
  • Growth & Development - Opportunities to strengthen leadership, retail operations, inventory management, and administrative skills within an established co-operative.
