This is an exciting opportunity for an NP who is passionate about innovative, evidence-based approaches to mental health and chronic pain care. Working alongside our interdisciplinary clinical team, you will play an integral role in the assessment, prescribing, administration, and clinical management of patients receiving ketamine treatments.

We are looking for someone who brings strong clinical judgment, confidence in independent practice, and a genuine commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care.

About SABI Mind

SABI Mind was founded in response to the global mental health crisis and the significant therapeutic potential of psychedelic medicines. We are a dedicated, practitioner-led organization providing safe, evidence-based, and accessible ketamine treatments for individuals who have found conventional treatments ineffective or who are seeking new pathways to healing.

Our programs support individuals experiencing treatment-resistant mental health conditions and chronic pain. Our core philosophy is built on human connection: it is people healing people. Through empathy in action, our team of trained medical professionals delivers innovative care in a safe, supportive, and patient-centred environment.

How You Can Help and What We Can Accomplish Together

You will be responsible for assessing patients, determining treatment suitability, prescribing and administering ketamine within your scope of practice, and overseeing patients throughout their treatment and recovery. Working collaboratively with our registered nursing team and broader clinical team, you will help ensure every patient receives safe, individualized, and attentive care.

Your expertise will contribute to the continued growth of our clinic and our commitment to expanding access to innovative mental health and chronic pain treatments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct pre-treatment clinical assessments, including review of medical history, current medications, vital signs, mental status, and potential contraindications.

  • Determine patient suitability for ketamine treatment and develop individualized treatment plans within your scope of practice and clinical competence.

  • Prescribe and administer intramuscular (IM) ketamine in accordance with BCCNM standards, applicable prescribing requirements, and established evidence-based clinical guidelines.

  • Provide clinical oversight throughout ketamine treatment sessions, including ongoing assessment of patient response and coordination with registered nurses supporting treatment delivery.

  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and recovery, including vital signs, psychological presentation, and overall clinical status.

  • Recognize, assess, and appropriately manage intended medication effects, adverse reactions, and other potential complications.

  • Respond to emergent clinical situations in accordance with established emergency procedures and applicable standards of practice.

  • Assess patients during recovery and determine medical readiness for discharge in accordance with established clinical criteria.

  • Provide appropriate discharge instructions and ensure follow-up recommendations and continuity-of-care plans are communicated.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation, including assessments, prescriptions, medication administration records, and treatment notes.

  • Ensure compliance with controlled medication requirements, medication safety procedures, and applicable professional and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, registered nurses, and broader interdisciplinary team to support safe, consistent, and patient-centred treatment delivery.

  • Participate in the development, review, and ongoing improvement of clinical protocols and treatment procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Active registration and practising status as a Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

  • Demonstrated competence and authorization to prescribe and administer ketamine within applicable BCCNM standards and limits and conditions.

  • Relevant clinical experience in mental health, psychiatry, emergency medicine, anesthesia, procedural sedation, chronic pain, or another related clinical setting.

  • Strong clinical assessment, prescribing, medication management, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and appropriately manage adverse medication reactions and medical complications.

  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

  • Knowledge and experience in patient monitoring, emergency response, and airway management.

  • A compassionate, client-centred, and trauma-informed approach to care.
