How You’ll Make an Impact

The Operations Technical Coordinator provides site-level coordination and execution across environmental, health and safety (EHS), quality assurance, and operational compliance activities for motor-oil blending, packaging, warehouse, and distribution operations. The position serves as a key operational control point for compliance readiness, product-quality verification, workforce and contractor safety, incident response, corrective-action closure, laboratory and quality-data integrity, and reliable operating information. Through direct coordination with site leadership, employees, contractors, and functional partners, the role helps protect employees, product integrity, regulatory compliance, customer service, and continuity of operations. The position supports EHS, operations/administration, and quality accountabilities in an approximate 40:40:20 allocation.

Responsibilities Include

  • Coordinate site-level EHS inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews; document findings, communicate risk, and drive assigned actions to timely and sustainable closure.
  • Administer defined EHS programs and training requirements, maintaining accurate content, records, and tracking systems to support workforce capability and compliance readiness.
  • Coordinate incident reporting and investigations, facilitate root-cause analysis, and monitor corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurrence and strengthen organizational learning.
  • Coordinate contractor-safety requirements, including permit preparation, documentation review, onsite monitoring, and escalation of observed noncompliance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support emergency-preparedness planning, drills, documentation, and follow-up actions to strengthen site response capability.
  • Analyze inspection, audit, incident, and corrective-action information to identify recurring risks and recommend measurable improvements to site leadership.
  • Lead or facilitate continuous-improvement initiatives that strengthen safety culture, compliance execution, and operational discipline across blending, packaging, warehouse, and distribution activities.
  • Own the coordination and completion of required site testing for inbound and outbound shipments and material transfers, ensuring results are accurately documented and communicated through established quality systems.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, testing records, and quality data in a state that supports reliable results, traceability, and compliance with established requirements.
  • Identify, document, and escalate testing exceptions, data-quality concerns, equipment issues, or other conditions that could affect product integrity or material movement.
  • Partner with Operations and other stakeholders to resolve quality-related issues and support consistent execution of product standards.
  • Coordinate operational data collection, validation, reporting, and record retention to provide site leadership with accurate and timely information for decision-making and compliance needs.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation across assigned EHS, quality, contractor, permit, training, and corrective-action processes.
  • Serve as a point of coordination between site leadership, employees, contractors, and functional partners for assigned compliance, quality, and operational initiatives.
  • Plan and execute special projects that address site priorities, process gaps, compliance needs, or continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Exercise judgment in recognizing EHS, quality, and operational risks, determining when immediate escalation is required, and coordinating appropriate follow-up within established authority.
  • Influence employees and third-party contractors to comply with site requirements, complete required actions, and adopt safer and more reliable work practices.
  • Recommend process, training, documentation, and control improvements based on inspection results, investigations, testing activity, and observed trends.
  • Balance competing priorities across EHS, quality, and operational support while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, responsiveness, and compliance.
  • Additional duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in science, environmental health and safety, quality, engineering technology, operations, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in EHS, manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, quality, logistics, or another regulated operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, maintain controlled records, coordinate investigations or corrective actions, and manage multiple priorities through completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and effectively use EHS, quality, training, and operational data systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate requirements, document findings, and escalate risk appropriately.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Regularly works throughout manufacturing, blending, packaging, laboratory, warehouse, and distribution environments. Must be capable of standing, walking, climbing stairs, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required to support other Valvoline Global Operations facilities, training events, suppliers, or business meetings.
