For more than 130 years, Camp Stephens—owned and operated by the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg—has brought this belief to life through exceptional overnight camp experiences on its island site in the heart of Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario. Guided by The Y Way and our commitment to Shine On Experiences, Camp Stephens fosters a culture where safety, inclusion, growth, and community are embedded in everything we do.

As a member of the Senior Staff team, this position provides leadership to the Program Team, Assistant Program Coordinator and Section Coordinators, ensuring the effective planning and execution of all camper activities. • Collaborate with Section Coordinators to ensure age-appropriate programming and smooth transitions between activities.
  • Establish and uphold risk management systems that reflect current best practices in the camping industry, prioritizing the safety of campers and staff.
  • Conduct routine inspections of program areas, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and meet safety standards.
  • Assess program performance by providing structured feedback to staff through both written and verbal communication, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Offer support to the broader team by stepping into operational roles as needed to meet evolving camp needs.

Administrative

  • Support the Camp Director in key administrative functions, including developing team schedules, facilitating staff onboarding, and managing parent communications.
  • Work collaboratively with the Camp Director to oversee program budgets, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead staff performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback to foster their development and success.
  • Assist with interdepartmental communication between Section Coordinators and Senior Staff to maintain operational flow.
  • Prepare a detailed end-of-season report, capturing observations, recommendations, and an inventory of program resources and activities.
