How you’ll make an impact
We’re looking for an experienced data developer who can build, support and improve the data pipelines and infrastructure that teams across FCC rely on every day. Someone who’s a practical problem-solver that can work through complex production issues, write clean and maintainable code, and clearly explain technical concepts to other developers, analysts and business partners.
As a Senior Data Developer, you’ll design, develop, test, troubleshoot and support cloud-based data solutions that enable reliable data movement, integration and use across FCC. You’ll contribute senior-level technical expertise while helping improve pipeline reliability, supportability and usability through Agile delivery practices.
You’ll be part of a foundational data team that supports FCC’s company-wide data needs, including data infrastructure, production support, new pipeline development and enhancements to existing data solutions. You’ll collaborate most often with technical users, developers, analysts and managers from other departments.
If you have senior-level data development experience, strong AWS knowledge and the confidence to lead technical troubleshooting or guide project work informally, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, test and maintain data pipelines, integrations and data processing solutions that support FCC’s enterprise data needs
- Support and improve cloud-based data infrastructure, including production pipelines, data movement, automation and operational reliability
- Troubleshoot complex data, integration and performance issues, leading root-cause analysis and recommending practical, sustainable fixes
- Analyze business and technical requirements, participate in design sessions and translate needs into secure, maintainable data solutions
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, implementation support and continuous improvement of development standards and Agile practices
- Provide informal technical leadership by guiding project work, coaching peers and helping other teams resolve data development challenges
What you’ll bring to the team
Required qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline
- At least six years of related software development experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Hands-on experience with AWS data technologies and cloud-based data platforms including AWS Glue, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon Redshift, Amazon EMR, AWS Step Functions and related AWS services
- Senior-level experience designing, developing, testing and supporting complex data solutions, including data pipelines, integrations and production support
- Strong technical skills in SQL and one or more programming or scripting language used in data development, such as Python, PySpark or Java
- Experience troubleshooting complex data, integration, pipeline or infrastructure issues in a production environment
- Knowledge of software development practices such as automated testing, code reviews, version control, CI/CD and maintainable design patterns
- Ability to communicate moderate to complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to clean, supportable and well-integrated technical solutions
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience providing informal technical leadership, such as leading troubleshooting efforts, guiding project work, mentoring peers or helping a team work through complex technical problems
- Experience with data modelling, data quality controls, monitoring, data governance, data lake or data warehouse concepts
- Experience working in Agile product or platform teams and collaborating with developers, analysts, architects and business stakeholders
- AWS, data engineering, DevOps or related technical certifications are considered an asset
