Job description

PagerDuty, Inc. (NYSE: PD) is the global leader in AI-first digital operations. By automatically detecting, diagnosing, and remediating issues, the PagerDuty Platform orchestrates AI agents and automated workflows with context from over 750 integrations. Trusted by approximately two-thirds of the Fortune 100 and nearly half of the Fortune 500, PagerDuty is the industry standard for organizations scaling resilient, autonomous operations. Notable customers include Chipotle, Cloudflare, Docusign, Fox, Nvidia, Salesforce, Spotify, Zoom and more. We are growing rapidly and hiring top talent with leading AI skills across engineering, sales, product, marketing, and beyond as we build the leading digital operations platform.

Senior Engineering Manager, Release Engineering

AI has changed how fast PagerDuty writes code. Release Engineering decides how fast, and how safely, that code reaches our customers. We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to build the delivery system for this new pace: pipelines that give AI agents fast, trustworthy feedback, environments fully defined in Git, and the CI/CD platform we’ll run for years to come.

You’ll lead a team of experienced platform engineers and set the delivery direction for all of PagerDuty Engineering. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, you’ll partner closely with our AI-native development program to shape how software gets built and shipped at PagerDuty.

**This role will require you to be in office 2 times a week**

What You’ll Do:

  • Set the multi-year roadmap for how PagerDuty builds, tests and deploys software.
  • Lead our GitOps transformation, so every environment is defined in Git and every change is promoted and rolled back the same way.
  • Bring CI-quality checks into the developer and agent loop, so problems are caught in minutes, before code ever reaches a merge gate.
  • Give engineers and AI agents short-lived, isolated environments to test changes safely.
  • Rework code review so people spend their time on changes that carry real risk, with automated checks covering the rest, including verifying that AI-written tests actually test something.
  • Take our next CI/CD platform from selection to full adoption across Engineering.
  • Own our delivery metrics, including Change Failure Rate, and report them to engineering leadership monthly, pairing every speed metric with a quality measure.
  • Keep the cost of CI and AI tooling predictable as usage grows.
  • Hire, coach and grow senior engineers.
  • Share what we learn through talks, blog posts and the wider engineering community.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in platform engineering, SRE or DevOps, including at least 5 years managing engineers.
  • Proven experience leading a GitOps or deployment platform migration across many teams and clusters.
  • A track record of taking a CI/CD platform from selection to full adoption across an engineering organization.
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD systems and infrastructure as code.
  • Hands-on use of AI coding agents, with experience changing a pipeline or process because of their impact on delivery speed and stability.
  • The ability to explain technical tradeoffs to executives in plain language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience running Argo CD, Buildkite or CircleCI at scale.
  • Experience with progressive delivery, such as canary releases or feature-flag rollouts.
  • Experience with vendor and budget management.

**The base salary range for this position is 180,000 - 272,800 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position.
