Job description

Putting people first, every day

BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

BDO's Credits & Incentives team provides a comprehensive approach to helping clients access funding throughout critical stages of growth, from early-stage development through global expansion. Working closely with our clients, we develop funding roadmaps that align available tax credits, government incentives, and grant programs with their business objectives, growth strategies, and overall capitalization plans.

Our team consists of more than 150 professionals across Canada, including engineers, software developers, scientists, technicians, tax and accounting specialists, and business consultants. Together, we help organizations identify, secure, and maximize funding opportunities through programs such as Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED), clean economy incentives, government grants, and other provincial and federal funding initiatives.

Our offices across Canada are looking for a Senior Manager to join our Credits & Incentives team and own the following responsibilities:

Your Opportunity

  • Lead and support Credits & Incentives client engagements, with a focus on the Clean Economy tax credits and capital asset or manufacturing tax credits.
  • Review and analyze capital asset acquisitions, construction, and installation costs to identify qualified expenditures to maximize available tax credits.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and effectively communicating technical matters, recommendations, and engagement priorities.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and team members regarding engagement progress, technical matters, and project priorities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering professional growth and technical excellence.

How Do We Define Success for Your Role?

  • You will develop a deep understanding of the industries BDO serves and contribute to the continued growth and advancement of the Credits & Incentives practice.
  • You will ensure work is complete, accurate, and appropriately reviewed by maintaining the necessary technical knowledge and commitment to professional development.
  • You will recommend and implement quality, process, and efficiency improvements across client engagements.
  • You will actively engage with people leaders to support employee performance and development while identifying and attracting top talent.
  • You will contribute to the firm's revenue growth by identifying opportunities to introduce clients to other BDO service lines and bring new clients to the firm.

Your Experience and Education

  • You have an engineering, science or technology degree and experience in a related field of energy, infrastructure, manufacturing or real estate.
  • You are a recognized subject matter expert and leader with 5+ years of experience supporting capital asset reviews, tax credit claims, grants filings, or related advisory services.
  • You possess a strong understanding of the Clean Economy Tax Credit programs, manufacturing capital asset programs and the broader tax credit landscape in Canada.
  • You have experience leading client engagements and coaching high-performing teams.
  • You value teamwork, client service, and delivering high-quality work.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
