Full company description

Technology is essential to modern organizations, but as environments scale, complexity increases. Without clear direction and oversight, that complexity can introduce risk, distraction, and uncertainty for the teams who depend on technology every day. Tenom helps organizations maintain control by bringing structure, stability, and intention to their technology. We take a measured approach - focusing on building, managing, and sustaining systems that perform reliably over time - so teams can stay focused on their priorities without being burdened by IT challenges. By bringing together multiple trusted technology organizations under one banner, Tenom pairs deep experience with expanded reach and shared purpose. Our clients benefit from broader capabilities and resources while continuing to receive the consistent, thoughtful service they value. We believe technology should enable people, not overwhelm them. When systems are deliberately designed, reinforced, and carefully managed, organizations operate with greater confidence, reduced friction, and clearer direction. Our commitment is simple: we take responsibility for complexity behind the scenes, so our clients can move forward knowing their technology is handled.

About Tenom

Tenom Technologies (www.tenom.ca) is a national IT managed services provider delivering cost-efficient, high-quality technology solutions to clients across Canada. We're in an exciting growth phase — scaling our operations, maturing our processes, and expanding our reach, all while staying focused on the long-term value we bring to our clients.

Our success is built on strong, trusted client relationships, deep technical expertise, and a genuine commitment to first-class client care. As we grow, we're looking for people who share that same commitment and want to help shape what comes next.

Why This Role Exists

As a Senior Systems Specialist at Tenom, you'll design, configure, and deploy solutions using the latest approved technology, working closely with internal stakeholders and clients to bring project goals to life. You'll be a trusted technical partner — helping shape innovative, customized IT solutions that meet both Tenom's standards and our clients' unique needs.

Who We Need - Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Deliver assigned project work under Tenom service agreements
  • Lead integration and consolidation of enterprise technology solutions
  • Work with third parties to support client technology deployments
  • Assist in preparing tactical and strategic technology plans
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to design innovative and customized IT solutions based on Tenom's and the client's requirements and objectives

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Configure Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS environments
  • Configure networking — switching, routing, and firewalls
  • Manage virtual infrastructure — VMs, storage access, and control
  • Administer Windows and Linux servers
  • Develop internal technology standards for efficient platform implementation

Architecture & Advisory

  • Advise clients on technical architecture and solution planning
  • Provide guidance on server and software infrastructure configurations
  • Provide technical input on hardware and software selection

Security & Governance

  • Lead development of application security management plans
  • Manage security for applications accessed by clients and external users

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Ensure all documentation — architecture designs, configurations, and technical specifications — is accurate and up to date
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of solutions, architectures, best practices, and lessons learned
  • Share knowledge and provide training to internal teams to support effective implementation and support of proposed solutions

What You Need

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years of working knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, storage, servers, and industry-related standards
  • Experience configuring Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Expertise in debugging hardware, software, and network problems
  • Practical knowledge of several operating systems and databases
  • Relevant certifications — such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar — are an asset
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and accuracy in project documentation
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams
  • A valid driver's license is required for any required on site client visits.

Core Values Alignment

You embody:

  • We Do What We Say – Follow through and close loops
  • We Own the Outcome – No excuses; solve root problems
  • We Stay Curious – Continuously improve and learn

What We Offer

  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Comprehensive health and benefits
  • Hybrid work flexibility (minimum 3 days per week in office)
