We are seeking a Software Developer – NetSuite & Business Systems to join our technology team and help support, improve and integrate the business systems that power O'Dell's growing operations.
A primary focus of this position will be our Oracle NetSuite ERP environment. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support, development and continuous improvement across NetSuite while also contributing to integrations, internal applications, automation and other business-system initiatives.
This is not a traditional help-desk role and it is not purely an application-development position. We are looking for someone who can understand how a business process works, identify where a system or workflow is creating friction, and develop a practical technical solution.
The role will work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, Customer Experience, eCommerce and other departments, as well as internal and external technology resources. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of technical issues, investigating root causes and developing maintainable solutions rather than relying exclusively on outside consultants.
What You'll Be Doing
NetSuite Development & Administration
- Support, maintain and continuously improve O'Dell's Oracle NetSuite ERP environment.
- Develop and maintain NetSuite customizations using SuiteScript 2.x and related NetSuite development tools.
- Build and maintain SuiteFlow workflows, saved searches, reports, dashboards, forms, fields, records and other NetSuite configurations.
- Develop and maintain SuiteAnalytics and SuiteQL queries and data extracts.
- Troubleshoot NetSuite application, workflow, script, permission, transaction and data issues.
- Assist with user roles, permissions, access and application configuration.
- Support NetSuite releases, testing, sandbox management and deployment of system changes.
- Review existing customizations and scripts and improve reliability, maintainability and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to simplify or eliminate unnecessary customizations where standard NetSuite functionality can meet the business need.
- Support data imports, data cleansing, record updates and system configuration related to acquisitions or business changes.
- Work with Finance and operational teams to improve ERP processes and reduce manual work.
Systems Integration
- Develop and maintain integrations between NetSuite and other O'Dell systems using REST APIs, SuiteTalk, web services, middleware and other integration technologies.
- Support integrations between NetSuite and platforms such as CRM, Shopify, Power BI, Microsoft applications and other business systems.
- Troubleshoot failed integrations, scheduled processes, APIs and data exchanges.
- Monitor integration performance and identify recurring issues or opportunities for improvement.
- Help establish clear documentation and ownership of APIs, automated jobs and material data flows.
- Support testing and validation when systems or integrations are changed.
Business Process Automation
- Work directly with employees and business leaders to understand existing processes and identify opportunities for automation.
- Develop workflows, scripts and applications that reduce repetitive administrative work and improve accuracy.
- Identify manual spreadsheet-based processes that can be replaced with reliable system workflows.
- Develop practical tools that improve employee productivity and system usability.
- Support automation using NetSuite capabilities, Microsoft Power Platform and other appropriate technologies.
- Help evaluate opportunities to responsibly use AI-enabled tools within internal workflows.
Reporting & Data
- Support reporting requirements using NetSuite saved searches, SuiteAnalytics, SuiteQL and related tools.
- Assist with reliable data feeds from NetSuite into Power BI and other reporting platforms.
- Work with business and data resources to ensure reporting logic is accurate and maintainable.
- Troubleshoot inconsistencies between NetSuite and downstream reporting systems.
- Support data quality, validation and cleanup activities.
- Develop queries and extracts required for operational, financial and management reporting.
Internal Applications & Development
- Develop and maintain internal web applications, utilities and business tools where appropriate.
- Work across technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, C# or other appropriate platforms depending on project requirements.
- Support existing internally developed applications and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Build lightweight applications and interfaces where extending NetSuite or another existing platform is not the appropriate solution.
- Follow appropriate source-control, testing, deployment, security and documentation practices.
Systems Support & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as an escalation resource for complex NetSuite and business-system issues.
- Investigate root causes rather than repeatedly addressing symptoms.
- Work with users to reproduce, troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
- Coordinate with Oracle NetSuite support, consultants and other vendors when outside expertise is required.
- Maintain technical documentation for scripts, integrations, customizations, configurations and recurring support procedures.
- Identify recurring system problems and recommend permanent solutions.
- Participate in technology projects related to acquisitions, eCommerce, CRM, reporting, automation and other business-system initiatives.
- Support testing, change management and user acceptance testing for system improvements.
- Stay current on NetSuite functionality and recommend opportunities to use new platform capabilities.
What You Bring
- Three plus (3+) years of professional software development, NetSuite development, ERP technical support or related experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience working with Oracle NetSuite in a production business environment.

- Experience with Microsoft Azure or Power Platform.
- Experience with React, Angular, Vue.js, Node.js, Python, C# or similar technologies.
- Experience developing internal applications or workflow automation.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or similar platforms.
- Experience with ERP implementations, acquisitions, data migrations or system integrations.
What We Are Looking For
The strongest candidate will be someone who combines software-development capability with an understanding of how enterprise systems actually support a business.
You should be comfortable opening a NetSuite issue, understanding the underlying process, tracing the relevant data or configuration, determining why it is occurring and implementing a sustainable solution.
We are looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership rather than simply escalating issues.
- Understands that good system design begins with understanding the business process.
- Writes maintainable, documented code and configurations.
