Job description

Technical Sales Representative (Inside Sales)

Richmond, BC | Full-Time | On-Site

Help Industrial Customers Solve Complex Process Challenges

The best sales professionals don't sell products—they help customers make better decisions.

Our client is looking for a technically minded sales professional who enjoys understanding how things work, asking the right questions, and helping customers find the best solution for their unique process requirements.

If you're energized by technical conversations, enjoy building relationships through trust and expertise, and want to develop a career in solution-based industrial sales, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.

This is not a high-volume transactional sales role. It's a consultative, engineering-supported sales position where curiosity, problem-solving, and customer education matter as much as commercial results.

Why This Opportunity Matters

Industrial customers often face complex process challenges where the wrong equipment choice can impact efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.

This role exists to help customers make confident, informed decisions by understanding their processes, identifying their needs, and guiding them toward the right solution.

You'll serve as a trusted advisor, helping customers understand not only what solution is recommended, but why it's the best fit for their application. Your ability to build credibility and trust will directly contribute to customer success and long-term business growth.

About Our Client

Our client is a respected manufacturer serving industrial process markets across North America and internationally. The company is known for delivering engineered solutions that create measurable value for customers through technical expertise, product quality, and exceptional service.

The organization values initiative, collaboration, practical problem-solving, and continuous learning. Team members are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and build meaningful relationships with both customers and colleagues.

What You'll Own

  • As a Technical Sales Representative, you'll be responsible for guiding customers through the entire solution selection process—from initial inquiry through quotation and order handoff.
  • You'll engage customers, channel partners, and representatives in meaningful conversations to understand their operating conditions, application requirements, and business objectives.
  • Working closely with Application Engineering and Design Engineering teams, you'll help configure and recommend solutions that address customer needs while delivering strong business value.
  • You'll prepare accurate quotations, proposals, and follow-up communications while maintaining a high standard of responsiveness and professionalism.
  • You'll manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle, ensuring customers receive timely information and support while maintaining accurate documentation within CRM and ERP systems.
  • Most importantly, you'll build long-term relationships by becoming a reliable technical resource rather than simply a product vendor.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success is measured by the quality of customer relationships as much as sales performance.

You'll know you're succeeding when:

  • Customers feel informed, supported, and confident in their decisions
  • Channel partners regularly seek your technical guidance and support
  • Quotations and recommendations are accurate, timely, and aligned with customer requirements
  • Opportunities progress through strong communication and consistent follow-up
  • Internal teams receive clear information that enables efficient execution
  • Customers view the company as a trusted partner rather than simply a supplier

Requirements

What Makes You Successful

  • You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy combining technical learning with customer interaction.
  • You naturally ask questions, seek to understand how processes work, and enjoy helping others solve problems. You communicate clearly, pay attention to details, and take pride in following through on commitments.
  • You are comfortable balancing relationship-building with the discipline required to maintain accurate records, quotations, and customer communications.
  • You'll be especially successful if you bring experience in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, chemical process, or engineered product environments where technical understanding is critical to customer success.
  • Experience with RFQs, technical quotations, engineered-to-order products, or application-based selling will be highly valued.
  • A technical background in mechanical, industrial, or process-related fields is considered a strong asset.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in inside sales, technical sales, or a related customer-facing role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to structured communication
  • Experience in maintaining accurate CRM and ERP records
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams

Benefits

What's In It For You

  • Competitive compensation
  • Practical, hands-on training and development
  • Exposure to technical and industrial applications across diverse industries
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement
  • A collaborative team environment that values initiative and problem-solving
  • The opportunity to develop both technical expertise and consultative sales skills
  • Meaningful work where you help customers solve real-world operational challenges

Ready to Become a Trusted Technical Advisor?

If you're excited by the opportunity to combine technical problem-solving with relationship-driven sales, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply with your resume and tell us about your inside sales experience, your success in developing customer relationships, and any experience you have with technical, industrial, or solution-based selling.

Please note: Only applicants residing in North America will be considered.
