Job description

About Big Viking Games

Founded in 2011, Big Viking Games is an independent Toronto-based consumer entertainment company behind YoWorld and Fish World, two long-running social games played by tens of millions of people over the years. Our business is built on loyal communities, recurring player engagement and a team with deep roots in web and live-service technology.

Today, we are modernizing how the company operates to keep pace with a fast-moving technology landscape. We are rethinking how our teams plan, execute and grow the business, and building an organization designed for the next decade of consumer digital products.

About the Role

As VP, Operations & Transformation, you will lead the modernization of Big Viking Games and run the operations that power the business. You will report to the CEO, serve on the leadership team and work alongside our product, engineering and creative leaders to set direction and deliver results across functions. Your remit covers studio production, product operations, people operations, accounting and IT, and the systems that connect them.

Success in this seat calls for an AI-native operator who builds with AI firsthand and leads the shift to a modernized operating model across the business. You bring a systems view of the organization, a strong command of operating leverage and capital efficiency, and the judgment to balance near-term performance with long-term value creation, while leading change through clear communication and strong stakeholder alignment.

We value in-person collaboration, and this role works from our Toronto Harbourfront office at least 3 days a week.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on executive role at the center of the business, connecting strategy, operations and people across every function:

  • Lead the transformation agenda. Define the roadmap for modernizing the company's operating model, and drive it from design through adoption across every function.
  • Run operations across the business. Lead studio and product operations, people operations, accounting and IT, with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.
  • Own the operating plan. Partner with the CEO on the P&L, set the annual operating plan and cost structure, and track performance against it.
  • Modernize processes and systems. Bring in modern tools and practices, including AI, where they create the most value, and measure the impact they deliver.
  • Build the team and culture. Shape the structure, roles and culture for the company's next chapter, and develop the leaders who will carry it forward.
  • Drive strategic initiatives. Lead priorities that span teams, run the planning and review rhythm, and keep the leadership team aligned on what matters most.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of experience, including 3+ years leading a P&L or operating budget.
  • Experience in consumer software or digital services businesses, ideally with transactional or subscription revenue.
  • You use and build with AI daily, have led its adoption across teams, and set a high bar for how effectively your organization puts it to work.
  • Strong executive communication. You bring clarity to complex decisions, write and present with precision, and keep leaders aligned on priorities and trade-offs.
  • A collaborative leadership style. You build trust across creative, technical and business teams and bring people together around shared priorities.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in gaming or interactive entertainment.
  • A background in management consulting, investment banking or private equity.
  • Experience reporting to a board or working closely with investors and lenders.
  • A track record of leading company-wide transformation or operating model redesign, from strategy through execution.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage.

  • HSA/WSA spending account from day one.
  • Participation in the Employee Stock Option Plan.
  • RRSP participation and matching.
  • 15 vacation & 10 wellness days.
  • Access to leading AI tools
