Full company description

Lumotive is pioneering the era of programmable optics — where light is controlled as intelligently and flexibly as software. At the heart of this transformation is a once-in-a-generation innovation: a flat CMOS-based “general purpose optic.” Lumotive’s Light Control Metasurface (LCM™) beam forming chips can be programmed to function as a beam steering mirror, a lens, a beam splitter — or any optical function — replacing bulky and mechanical optical components with a fully digital, reconfigurable semiconductor. This breakthrough lays the foundation for a massive shift in multiple technologies — from 3D sensing and imaging to optical networking, free space optical communication, and beyond. Like the shift from analog to digital in electronics, programmable optics will reshape industries from robotics, self-driving cars, AI, defense, and healthcare. Lumotive’s first commercial application is in Lidar, where its software-defined beam steering chips are already enabling compact, high-performance, solid-state sensors. These sensors are being deployed today in smart infrastructure, robotics, and mobility systems through leading module makers and solution integrators. With more than 200 patents and growing commercial traction, Lumotive is delivering the world’s first digital platform for light — and redefining what’s possible in the optical age.

As Lumotive’s first Director in the region, you will combine technical fluency, deep market knowledge, and commercial leadership, with the opportunity to shape Lumotive’s go-to-market presence in one of the world’s most important markets for 3D sensing.

Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Leadership & Go-to-Market
    • Develop and execute sales strategies and annual revenue plans tailored to the distinct markets of North America.
    • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities in industrial automation, robotics, smart infrastructure, security, automotive, and consumer applications for 3D sensing solutions powered by Lumotive’s optical semiconductors.
    • Business Development & Account Management
    • Build a qualified pipeline of design-win opportunities and lead engagements from first contact through evaluation, design-in, qualification, and mass production.
    • Manage and expand executive-level relationships with key customers, module makers, distributors, and strategic partners across the region.
    • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, supply agreements, and NRE or development engagements.
    • Drive revenue growth by meeting or exceeding bookings, revenue, and design-win targets.
    • Forecasting & Reporting
    • Maintain disciplined pipeline management in CRM and deliver accurate sales forecasts and reports to support business and operations planning.
    • Market Development & Intelligence
    • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends in ToF, lidar, 3D sensing, and imaging, as well as customer needs and competitive threats.
    • Serve as the voice of the North America market, providing customer and market insights that inform product roadmaps and company strategy.
    • Technical Engagement
    • Act as a trusted technical resource to customers, partnering with applications and systems engineering teams to deliver demos, evaluation kits, and solution guidance.
    • Capture customer requirements, use conditions, and feedback, and communicate them to product development to drive innovation.
    • Collaboration & Representation
    • Work closely with global sales, marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on company goals and customer commitments.
    • Represent Lumotive at trade shows, industry conferences, and customer meetings throughout the region.

Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 10 years of technical sales or business development experience in semiconductors, optoelectronics, or depth sensing technologies.
    • Proven track record of managing sales across North America and winning designs that ramp to volume production.
    • Established network across North America’s ToF, 3D sensing, lidar, or imaging ecosystems, particularly among module makers, OEMs, and system integrators.
    • Strong understanding of optical semiconductor technologies and their system-level applications.
    • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with executive presence.
    • Ability to operate autonomously as the initial one-person regional team and work effectively across multiple time zones.
    • Experience selling lidar, ToF, 3D sensing, or optical modules into industrial robotics, smart infrastructure, or security markets is preferred.
    • Experience building a regional sales function at an early-stage or high-growth technology company is preferred.
