Job description

Who We Are:

Every transaction matters. Every Canadian matters. At Interac, we protect both — driving trust, security, and inclusion, so our digital economy thrives.

Founded in 1984, Interac connects Canadians through secure digital payments, advanced identity verification and industry-leading fraud protection. Connecting banks, businesses, and individuals, Interac enables millions to send, receive, and manage money safely and effortlessly every day — across both digital and physical environments.

As the backbone of Canada’s financial ecosystem, Interac facilitates over 20 million transactions daily, supported by trusted partnerships with government and financial institutions. Consistently ranked as Canada’s most reputable financial technology brand, Interac is deeply embedded in the daily lives of Canadians.

Who You Will Work With:

The vacant Enterprise Architect, Data Architecture role will report to the Leader, Enterprise Architecture and operate within a federated architecture model. You will partner closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, Platform, Security, Risk, Privacy, and Delivery teams to shape Interac’s enterprise data architecture target state, with a focus on governed data warehouse and lakehouse capabilities that enable trusted analytics, reusable data products, regulatory confidence, and scalable business decision-making.

What You Will Do:

As an Enterprise Architect with a focus on Data Architecture, you will be accountable for defining and evolving Interac’s enterprise data architecture target state, enabling a modern data warehouse and lakehouse ecosystem that improves data trust, discoverability, quality, security, lineage, and speed-to-insight while supporting near-term delivery needs.

Key responsibilities include:

Enterprise Data Strategy & Target-State Architecture

  • Define and evolve enterprise data architecture principles, target-state blueprints, and transition roadmaps for Interac’s data warehouse and lakehouse ecosystem, ensuring the architecture supports trusted reporting, analytics, AI readiness, regulatory needs, and operational decision-making.

  • Contribute to the Architecture Strategy Centre of Excellence by stewarding enterprise-wide data architecture direction, including data domains, canonical models, integration patterns, semantic standards, and reusable data products.

Data Governance, Quality & Lifecycle Management

  • Establish architecture metrics and guardrails for data quality, data lineage, metadata completeness, ownership, access controls, retention, and standards compliance across warehouse and lakehouse environments.

  • Identify systemic data risks such as duplicate datasets, inconsistent definitions, weak lineage, poor data quality, unclear ownership, and unmanaged sensitive data, then partner with domain, product, and delivery leaders to prioritize remediation.

Data Architecture Design, Governance & Assurance

  • Lead and participate in architecture reviews, peer assessments, and governance forums to ensure data solutions align with enterprise standards, privacy and security expectations, regulatory requirements, data residency considerations, and resiliency needs.

  • Document and socialize data reference architectures, modelling standards, ingestion and integration patterns, lakehouse zones, warehouse marts, semantic layer guidance, and data product lifecycle practices.

What You Bring:

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

  • 5+ years’ experience in enterprise, data, information, and/or solution architecture roles within complex environments.

  • Proven experience operating in a federated architecture model, balancing enterprise stewardship with embedded delivery.

  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise data architectures where data domains, data products, data models, metadata, lineage, access controls, and ownership are clearly defined and governed.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess, quantify, and manage data architecture risk, including data duplication, inconsistent definitions, poor data quality, weak lineage, unclear ownership, and fragmented analytical platforms.

  • Practical experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architecture patterns, including ingestion, transformation, curated data layers, semantic modelling, data marts, open table formats, and fit-for-purpose consumption patterns for BI, analytics, and AI use cases.

  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries, with working knowledge of security, risk, and compliance expectations.

  • Strong decision-making and trade-off analysis skills (risk, cost, time-to-market, resiliency).

  • Experience designing scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments, including modern integration patterns such as APIs, event-driven data flows, streaming, batch processing, and governed data sharing.

  • Strong understanding of how data quality, metadata, lineage, master and reference data, lifecycle state, privacy, and security controls intersect, and ability to translate these relationships into measurable architecture metrics and governance practices.

  • Architecture, data management, and/or cloud certifications such as TOGAF, CDMP, DAMA-DMBOK, AWS, Azure, or equivalent are considered an asset.

What We’re Offering:

The hiring range for this position is $145,000.00 - $155,000.00, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
