Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The Environmental Coordinator supports the planning, implementation, assessment, and monitoring of environmental initiatives for the Pearson Accelerator Construction Team (PACT). This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and advances GTAA’s environmental goals while working closely with construction teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to integrate these within the entire construction value chain, from planning, procurement, construction and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESC), and Waste Management Plans.
  • Conduct site inspections, identify non-conformances, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Assist in gathering data for Greenhouse Gases (GHG) reporting, carbon tracking, and sustainability metrics required under the PACT program.
  • Support environmental initiatives focused on emissions reduction, materials optimization, and sustainable construction practices.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records, permits, monitoring logs, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly environmental updates for internal stakeholders, project managers, and the PACT leadership team.
  • Track environmental KPIs and contribute to program-wide dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring including soil, water, air, noise, waste, and wildlife interactions.
  • Support spill response efforts, reporting, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate sampling activities with labs and vendors as needed.
  • Work closely with construction teams, consultants, contractors, and airport partners to ensure environmental obligations are met.
  • Provide guidance to site personnel on environmental best practices and permit conditions.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions, and awareness briefings as needed.
  • Develop presentation material and meeting minutes, as required.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance environmental performance across sites and support PACT-wide innovation initiatives.
  • Recommend improved processes for waste diversion, emissions reduction, and resource efficiency.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or site hours. At times, operational needs may require work outside these hours, with reasonable notice provided. All schedule or on call adjustments will comply with applicable employment standards legislation. It is mandatory for all employees to complete a Criminal Background Check and successfully attain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC) upon joining the company.
