Saltworks Technologies is a leading Canadian cleantech company solving two of the world's most pressing challenges: water sustainability and critical minerals supply. We design and build advanced industrial water treatment and lithium refining systems for global leaders in semiconductors, mining, automotive, and industrial processing.
Saltworks is a 2025 Technology Fast 50 company and EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner. We lead our industry in adopting and developing AI across our products, projects, and operations. Join us and build skills defining the next era of engineering and industrial systems.
The role:
Join our team as the Mechanical Engineering Services Manager. You will help drive the engineering systems and technical services that make our projects faster, more consistent, and easier to execute. Reporting to the Director, Mechanical Engineering, you'll lead a growing team responsible for pipe stress, seismic and structural analysis, mechanical design coordination, the CAD library, engineering standards, and automation tools.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. As you build and develop the team, you'll carry out day-to-day engineering analysis, own technical deliverables, and solve problems directly. It's ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys developing people while staying actively involved in technical work.
You will make a meaningful impact by:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of analysts, coordinators, and engineers, including assigning work across projects, balancing workloads, supporting employee development, and contributing to recruitment and retention.
- Performing engineering analysis, including pipe stress analysis to ASME B31.3, nozzle load evaluations, and seismic, structural, and anchorage calculations.
- Determining when specialized analysis should be completed internally and when external consultants should be engaged.
- Authoring, maintaining, and publishing engineering standards and design guides.
- Owning and managing the CAD library’s structure, standards, and request queue in partnership with PLM and CAD administrators.
- Driving the rollout, training, and adoption of automation and AI tools, including macros, GAD/BOM tools, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Applying lessons learned early in the design and resolving vendor issues, turning recurring problems into updated standards and checklists.
- Developing onboarding and training materials for new mechanical engineers.
- Coordinating mechanical design across projects and working with cross functional teams to provide responsive technical support.
You will be a great fit if you have:
- A degree in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering.
- 5 – 8 years of mechanical design experience, including 2+ years leading people.
- P.Eng. registration (or eligibility) through EGBC or another Canadian regulator.
- Strong proficiency using SolidWorks and/or Plant 3D for mechanical and plant design.
- Practical pipe stress analysis experience using CAESAR II or equivalent tool, and working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME Section VIII.
- Experience administering a CAD library or PLM system.
- Engineering automation or scripting (SolidWorks API, VBA, Python, AI-assisted workflows) is an asset.
- A track record of writing engineering standards and delivering tools that others adopt.
- The ability to balance leadership responsibilities with individual technical deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative, service-minded approach.
