Job description

Hillberg & Berk, a Canadian, women-owned, purpose driven jewellery company, is looking for an individual with a strong background in demand planning, inventory investment, and allocation, and the ability to turn complex data into confident business decisions. If you have a passion for building models, leading a high-performing team, and shaping strategy for a brand in real growth mode, our Senior Director, Planning & Allocation position, may be the role for you!

The Role

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll set the strategy for and lead our integrated planning function; demand forecasting, inventory planning, Open-to-Buy, allocation, and replenishment, across Retail, Ecommerce, and Wholesale. You’ll own the inventory investment plan and its impact on margin, cash flow, and growth.

This is a senior level role that shapes our inventory strategy while executing and building the foundation for growth. Leading a lean team, you’ll know when to delegate and when to roll up your sleeves.

What You’ll Do

  • Set the multi-year Planning & Allocation roadmap, connecting inventory strategy to our long-range plan and store expansion
  • Hold full accountability for the inventory investment plan and OTB including budget, inventory health, cash outlay, margin, and risk
  • Personally build and pressure-test forecasting models, and lead the rebuild of legacy tools into scalable, automated systems
  • Define how AI is integrated into forecasting and planning, using it as a source of insight and validation, not a replacement for judgment
  • Set allocation and replenishment strategy across channels, stepping in directly on high-stakes calls like launches and new store openings
  • Partner as a peer with Product, Finance, Supply Chain, and channel leaders so assortment, demand, and capital come together in one cohesive plan
  • Lead, coach, and grow a lean team, building bench strength as the business scales
  • Translate complex data into clear, decision-ready recommendations for the executive team

What You Bring

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in demand planning, inventory planning, merchandising, and/or allocation, ideally in high-growth, multi-channel retail
  • Experience across more than one planning discipline, with a track record of coaching and developing planners
  • Proven accountability for an inventory investment or OTB budget, with measurable impact on margin, turns, and working capital
  • Experience leading a planning function through scale in store growth, channel expansion, or a systems transformation
  • Expert, current hands-on Excel skills. You build the models, not just review them
  • Hands-on experience applying AI/LLM tools to analytical or forecasting work, and leading their adoption across a team
  • ERP/planning systems experience, including implementations or enhancements (Fulfil.io an asset)
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Merchandising, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or relevant Master’s an asset
  • Comfort with ambiguity, a knack for building from scratch, and a sharp eye for detail

Why H&B

  • A seat on the senior leadership team of a brand in real growth mode
  • The chance to build the planning function you’ve always wanted, not inherit one
  • A values-driven culture where we Lean In, Own Our Impact, work as One Team and are Client Obsessed
  • The opportunity to do what you love, while giving back to the community, and being a part of a bigger purpose.

Vacancy Type: New

Salary Band: $140,000 - $160,000

Location: Remote Opportunity - ideally located in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto

In addition to base salary, we also offer a competitive bonus program, benefits, and total rewards package.

If your experience does not meet or exceeds these role requirements, this salary band may be adjusted accordingly in the event that an employment offer is made.
