Estate & Trust Administration and Accounting Software for Professionals

Full company description

The trust and estates industry has seen little in the way of innovation over the past few decades. While the fintech revolution has brought transformative change to the vast majority of financial services segments, trust and estate professionals remain largely dependent on manual workflows and paper-based processes. Without modern tools at their disposal, professional firms and financial institutions will struggle to meet the rising demand for trust and estate administration services. At Estateably, we strive to lead the digital transformation of the trust and estate industry worldwide. Estateably increases operational efficiencies by automating repetitive tasks, increasing collaboration between internal and external parties, embedding workflows and tracking activities on a tamper-proof audit log. We augment current processes and methodologies with modern technology to propose a robust and compliant platform that increases staff productivity, synergies between stakeholders, customers lifetime value and business revenues. We are a purpose-built platform that digitizes and streamlines the estate and trust administration process. Our vision is bold yet simple: empower our partners with cutting-edge technology to make their work lives easier.

Job description

Senior Frontend Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a senior frontend engineer to help shape the technical direction of our product interface and support the team as a frontend expert. You'll build key parts of the product, contribute to the patterns and standards the team follows, and work closely with Product, Design, and Backend to bring features to life.

This is a hands-on role focused on helping raise the bar for architecture, performance, testing, and engineering standards. You'll also support the engineers around you through code review, pairing, and mentorship.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and own key parts of the product interface, from guided workflows and data entry screens to reporting, where accuracy and ease of use matter most.
  • Set frontend technical direction, including architecture patterns, state management, component boundaries, and testing strategy. Document these standards so they last beyond any single project.
  • Treat frontend performance as an ongoing discipline. Set performance targets for our heaviest views and track them so issues are caught before customers notice.
  • Help the engineers around you grow through code review, pairing, and mentorship.
  • Work with our Principal Engineer and other tech leads on shared frontend standards and the common component library.
  • Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and Backend to decide what gets built, not just how. That includes pushing back when a design will add friction or lead to bad data.
  • Help improve how the team works. We use Scrum and are open about where it causes friction, and we expect senior engineers to help fix that.

What we’re looking for:

Required

  • 5+ years building production web applications in React and TypeScript.
  • Demonstrated ownership of frontend architecture on a non-trivial product — you’ve made the calls on state management, component structure, and testing strategy, and lived with the consequences.
  • Concrete experience diagnosing and fixing frontend performance in data-dense UIs: large tables and lists, virtualization, render profiling, bundle size.
  • Deep fluency in HTML, CSS, and modern build tooling.
  • Experience building complex forms and data-entry flows where validation, error states, and edge cases are the hard part.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and how to build them, not audit for them afterward.
  • Ability to explain a technical trade-off to a product manager or a customer success lead as clearly as to another engineer.
  • Advanced English, written and verbal — the team is distributed across Canada/US.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to accounting, fiduciary, legal tech, fintech, or another regulated domain. You don’t need to know about Estates and Trusts; you do need to be genuinely interested in learning the domain deeply, because you can’t design good entry workflows for a system you don’t understand.
  • Design system ownership or significant contribution to a shared component library.
  • Experience with our adjacent stack: Hook state management, Design system (UntitledUI), Vitetest, NestJS/Node.js, MongoDB.

Our stack: React, TypeScript, Hook state management, Design system (UntitledUI), NestJS, MongoDB, AWS/GCP.

Why Estateably:

Over the next 25 years, more than $60 trillion will be transferred between generations— yet professionals and the families they serve are wholly underserved in their tools to navigate the estate and trust administration process. Estateably was founded to change that.

Here’s why you’ll want to be part of it:

  • Massive market opportunity: We're tackling one of the largest wealth transfers in history, in an industry overdue for transformation.
  • Rapid growth and adoption: Since launching in 2021, we’ve become the fastest-growing estate and trust platform in North America, serving 1,000+ firms across Canada and the U.S.
  • Real problems, real impact: Our platform helps fiduciaries handle complex, sensitive workflows that directly affect professionals and their practices.
  • Bold, ambitious vision: We’re not here to make small improvements—we’re rethinking how the industry works from the ground up.

What our team has in common:

  • A hunger to learn fast and continuously.
  • High ownership and accountability for results.
  • A can-do, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a team-first attitude.
  • Comfort with change and fast-paced environments.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Flexible hours & remote work.
  • Participation in our company Employee Stock Option Plan.
  • Yearly bonus based on performance.
  • Full participation in our company’s group health, dental, and virtual medicine plans.
  • Wellness Benefit.
  • Computer equipment.
