Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Analytics & Insights leads SE Health’s analytics delivery team and owns the partnership between that team and the business. This hands-on leadership role exists to change how analytics creates value at SE Health: from reactive, ticket-driven, retrospective reporting to proactive business partnership and intelligent reporting - meaningful metrics and analytics that leaders use to decide.
The Senior Manager is accountable for the team’s people, delivery, priorities and escalations, and for building and maintaining the demand pipeline with business, clinical and operations partners. The incumbent is expected to approach technical and non-technical stakeholders, listen inside their forums, identify opportunities, and convert ambiguous business problems into clearly specified, delivered, adopted analytics solutions. In addition, the individual provides a meaningful role in peer-reviewing, revising, mentoring and leading the build of analytical and data science solutions, including individual-contributor work in data visualization, data storytelling and dashboard building.
Key Accountabilities:
Business Partnership & Demand Development
- Build proactive partnerships with operational, clinical and corporate leaders, engaging early to understand business needs and define problems before solutions are determined.
- Own the analytics intake process, including triage, prioritization and communication of requests.
- Identify and develop analytics use cases by engaging with business areas, understanding operational needs and identifying opportunities where analytics can add value.
- Establish and maintain a visible, managed pipeline of analytics opportunities across key business areas.
- Determine the most appropriate analytical approach for each requirement, including BI reporting, descriptive analysis or advanced analytics/machine learning.
- Validate assumptions and requirements with business partners throughout delivery to support relevant, trusted and adopted analytics solutions.
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
- Lead and manage a team of analytics professionals, including performance management, mentorship, development planning, prioritization and workload balancing.
- Oversee the team’s analytics delivery, including project planning, timelines, commitments and overall execution.
- Provide direction and support to the team to help maintain delivery quality, focus and accountability.
- Own escalations related to analytics delivery and represent the team’s work, priorities and challenges with business partners and leadership.
- Coordinate with Data Engineering, Application Data and IT teams to support the data, access and technical dependencies required for delivery.
Analytics Portfolio & Governance Foundation
- Establish and operate an analytics portfolio model that aligns team members to key business domains and supports consistent coverage across business areas.
- Maintain visibility across each portfolio’s business partners, reports, data sources, key metrics, business processes and strategic priorities.
- Build and maintain shared governance assets, including business glossaries, data dictionaries, data specifications and related documentation.
- Remain hands-on in data discovery, including working with SQL in complex or sparsely documented environments, as well as dashboard development, visualization and data storytelling.
- Peer-review analytical and data science deliverables, including model design, methodology, validation approaches, SQL and dashboard builds, before release to business audiences.
- Support disciplined data discovery by validating findings with the people who use the systems and ensuring relevant documentation is created and maintained.
Reporting Modernization & Enterprise Initiatives
- Lead the evolution of SE Health’s reporting environment from primarily retrospective reporting toward more intelligent, decision-focused reporting.
- Support the development of meaningful metrics and analytics, including predictive methods where appropriate, and help move these solutions into production and adoption.
- Steward the existing report portfolio by monitoring usage and adoption, identifying duplication or low-value reporting, and supporting rationalization where appropriate.
- Represent the Analytics & Insights team in enterprise programs and transformation initiatives, including data-migration-related reporting and validation activities.
- Own project timelines, communication plans and delivery commitments for initiatives within the team’s scope.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred field of study: Quantitative field, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Health Sciences; or combined experience and training.
Must possess certifications in analytics or platform-based analytics such as CORS or MCSE
Experience: 8 to 10 years
Other: Demonstrated leadership of analytics delivery (team lead, project leadership or management capacity). Healthcare experience required
Additional Skills/Abilities Required:
- Proven hands-on SQL and data-discovery capability in complex, low-documentation environments; strong dashboarding (Power BI or equivalent) and data-storytelling craft.
- In-depth working knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts - supervised and unsupervised learning, model validation and performance evaluation, statistical inference, and MLOps / model lifecycle practices - sufficient to peer-review model design and challenge methodology.
- Working technical proficiency across the analytics stack: advanced SQL, Python or R for analysis, dimensional and semantic data modelling, and enterprise BI platforms.
- Track record of building business partnerships and converting ambiguous business problems into delivered, adopted analytics solutions; experience establishing documentation and governance foundations (data dictionaries, business glossaries, data specifications).
- Navigates complex, multi-stakeholder organizations with judgment and persistence; communicates technical results in the audience’s language; coaches and develops people.
