Our range of experience covers the full spectrum of industries, business sizes, and valuation complexity, helping owner-managed companies to large publicly traded corporations. Deep industry expertise allows us to be agile and responsive, bringing in resources from our global accounting and consulting network when required. This is a new role.

This role focuses on expanding business opportunities while providing valuation services to clients in any of the following areas:

  • Investment Entity Reviews: Lead investment entity and investment holding entity reviews in accordance with CBV standards for large enterprise clients and institutional investors, supporting tax planning, compliance, and transaction-related requirements.
  • Business Valuations: Manage business valuation engagements for financial planning, compliance, tax planning, and transaction advisory purposes. Provide strategic guidance on mandates involving the sale of businesses.
  • Fairness Opinions: Lead fairness opinion projects providing objective and independent analysis and help companies determine the fairness of numerous transactions, including proposed transactions, mergers or acquisitions, divestitures, unsolicited offers for a public company’s shares, and hostile takeovers.
  • Audit Assistance: Assist BDO assurance practice in validating the fair value of assets and liabilities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Instruments: Provide valuation expertise using binomial models, Monte-Carlo simulations, hedge accounting for complex financial instruments, including stocks, bonds, derivatives, employee stock options, senior debt, and other complex securities.

Your responsibilities will include the following critical elements:

  • Leadership and Team Development: Mentor and guide team members, including CBVs and CBV students, to foster a collaborative, high-performing environment. Provide ongoing training to enhance technical and professional skills.
  • Project and Quality Management: Oversee projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery within scope and budget. Review deliverables to align with client expectations and professional standards.
  • Expert Insights and Decision-Making: Analyze data and provide informed recommendations to clients, demonstrating expertise in business valuation methodologies, industry practices, and advanced technical skills for complex engagements.
  • Reporting Excellence: Deliver clear, well-supported valuation reports tailored to client needs and aligned with professional standards.
  • Client Relationship and Business Development: Build and maintain strong client and referral source relationships, ensuring high satisfaction while identifying growth opportunities. Pursue business development initiatives, including responding to RFPs, creating high-quality proposals, and expanding client engagements.
  • Strategic Collaboration and Cross-Selling: Collaborate with clients and partners to identify and cultivate value-added opportunities, leveraging cross-selling potential across services.
  • Thought Leadership and Brand Building: Develop and share thought leadership articles to enhance brand and service awareness through platforms such as BDO’s website and LinkedIn.

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.
  • You understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work.
  • You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients.
  • You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talent.
  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace.
  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development.

Your experience and education

  • You have strong business acumen with a deep interest in equity and debt markets, economics (local and global), and general finance.
  • You have exceptional understanding of valuation methodologies and financial analysis.
  • You have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., accounting and/or finance).
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, including 5+ years of direct valuation expertise.
  • You have relevant professional designations (e.g., CPA/CA, CFA, CBV).
  • You exhibit a growth mindset, continually seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • You thrive in a collaborative organization and environment.
  • You display exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and presentation skills for internal/external purposes.
  • You actively engage in business development activities, contributing to the growth and success of the firm.
  • You lead by example, inspiring and motivating your team to achieve their full potential and deliver exceptional results.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $123,000 to $173,000 annually.
