Job description

At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experience, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. From our office in Downtown Toronto, we’ve created leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started.

Why is this role important?

At Loblaw Digital, we create digital experiences that help Canadians Live Life Well across health, grocery, beauty, apparel and more. As we explore the next generation of AI-powered experiences, we're reimagining how customers interact with our products and services, making everyday experiences simpler, more connected and more intuitive.

As Staff Product Designer, Agentic Experiences, you'll help shape that future while strengthening the designers and teams bringing it to life.

This is a senior individual contributor leadership role that brings together experience strategy, hands-on product design, coaching and cross-functional influence. Working across Digital Health and eCommerce, you'll focus on complex, emerging experience challenges that span products and teams, helping establish new interaction models, shared design approaches and more connected customer experiences.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Design, Digital Health and Conversational Experiences, you'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Go-to-Market and design leaders to explore emerging interaction models, turn ambitious ideas into tangible experiences and bring them to market. You'll also serve as a trusted mentor to designers, helping them strengthen their craft, navigate ambiguity and grow as product thinkers and design leaders.

The impact you'll make

Shape the future of agentic experiences

You'll help define how conversational and agentic experiences come to life across Loblaw Digital, connecting Health and Commerce to create more seamless customer journeys.

You'll do this through:

  • Establishing experience principles and interaction models that address customer context, trust, autonomy and control, including when an agent should act, ask or defer to the customer
  • Partnering with Product, Engineering and Research to identify opportunities, frame problems and define measurable outcomes grounded in customer needs, business priorities and technical realities
  • Connecting teams working on related challenges to share insights, align on experience direction and build more consistent journeys across products

Coach, mentor and elevate designers

A meaningful part of your impact will come through the growth and effectiveness of the designers around you. You'll be a trusted craft and strategic thought partner to Product and Content Designers, helping them strengthen their design judgment, tackle complex experience challenges and grow their capabilities alongside their day-to-day design leadership.

You'll do this through:

  • Providing ongoing coaching, one-on-one working sessions, critiques and hands-on design guidance to strengthen designers' craft and product judgment
  • Offering clear, constructive and actionable feedback that raises quality while giving designers autonomy to explore, learn and grow
  • Supporting designers as they navigate ambiguity, cross-functional challenges and competing expectations, helping them develop their own influence and leadership
  • Partnering with design leaders and people managers to identify skill-development opportunities and strengthen the team's overall capabilities

Make strategy tangible through design

You'll move comfortably between big-picture thinking and detailed product design, helping teams explore possibilities, challenge assumptions and turn emerging ideas into real experiences.

You'll do this through:

  • Creating concepts, journeys, service blueprints, interaction models and rapid prototypes using tools such as Figma, Replit and emerging AI-enabled workflows
  • Leading workshops and working sessions with designers and senior cross-functional partners to build shared understanding and align on product direction
  • Working hands-on alongside designers and delivery teams to translate concepts into usable interfaces and high-quality shipped experiences
  • Using research, experimentation and product metrics to validate decisions, measure outcomes and improve experiences over time

Champion design quality and consistency

You'll help raise the quality and consistency of experiences across teams by contributing expert design judgment, developing shared patterns and guiding complex interaction decisions.

You'll do this through:

  • Bringing strong interaction and visual design judgment to critiques and working sessions, guiding decisions around usability, information architecture, accessibility, content and interaction behaviour
  • Partnering with Product and Engineering to resolve complex design challenges and ensure quality from discovery through implementation
  • Identifying opportunities for shared patterns, frameworks and capabilities that improve consistency across Health and Commerce journeys
  • Working with our Design System team and adjacent designers to evolve reusable patterns, reduce fragmentation and strengthen how teams design and deliver experiences

How you'll succeed

You'll succeed by helping Loblaw Digital shape more connected, intuitive and trustworthy experiences across our portfolio. Success is emerging in this new space, but we are looking for a leader who can take their next step in their career in:

  • Turning emerging opportunities in agentic AI into clear experience direction, shared principles and tangible solutions that teams can explore, validate and bring to life
  • Connecting experiences across products and services to create more seamless, consistent customer journeys
  • Raising the quality of our work through strong design judgment, hands-on collaboration and a commitment to craft
  • Coaching and empowering designers to navigate complexity, strengthen their skills, build confidence and grow as design leaders

What you bring

You're an experienced product designer and strategic thinker who connects customer needs, business opportunities and emerging technology to create meaningful experiences. You're equally comfortable shaping what's possible, making it real and helping other designers grow.

You bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in product design, experience strategy, service design or related disciplines, shaping and delivering complex digital experiences
  • Strong product and systems thinking, with the ability to frame ambiguous problems and influence experience direction across products, teams and customer journeys
  • Strong hands-on design craft, including interaction design, information architecture, prototyping and translating complex concepts into intuitive, usable interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring designers, providing actionable feedback and raising design quality while supporting autonomy and growth
  • Ability to lead through influence, build trust and align senior stakeholders through compelling storytelling, prototypes and evidence
  • Experience designing conversational AI, agentic systems or emerging technologies, with an understanding of new interaction models, customer trust and control
  • Strong partnership with Product, Engineering and Research, moving ideas from early exploration through implementation and measurable outcomes
  • Practical experience with AI-enabled design tools and workflows to accelerate exploration, prototyping and iteration
  • Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design, including AODA requirements, privacy, safety and responsible AI considerations
  • Experience with healthcare, commerce, complex service ecosystems, personalization, identity or regulated environments is an asset.

What we'd love to see in your portfolio

We're less interested in a particular case-study format than in understanding how you think, design, lead and influence.

Show us examples of:

  • Products and experiences you've shaped, delivered and measured, including your role in their success
  • How you've framed ambiguous opportunities, influenced direction and translated strategy into tangible concepts, prototypes or shipped experiences
  • How you've partnered across Design, Product and Engineering to solve complex problems and create connected experiences
  • How you've explored conversational AI, agentic systems or emerging interaction models
  • How you've coached designers, elevated craft and improved the effectiveness of teams

How You’ll Succeed:

At Loblaw Digital, we seek great people to continually strengthen our culture. We believe great people model our values, are authentic, build trust and make connections.

We’re able to keep innovating because our colleagues are passionate about their work and excited about the future of eCommerce.

If you have big ideas, undeniable enthusiasm, and thrive in a collaborative, creative, and diverse group, we’ll get along just fine.

Looking for a challenge? Good. Love an innovative work environment? Even better.
