GO2STAFFING is partnering with a highly respected Canadian organization to recruit a Vice President, Human Resources to lead its HR function and help shape the organization's people strategy, culture, and long-term success.

This is an opportunity to join an established, values-driven organization known for its collaborative environment, commitment to employee well-being, and meaningful community involvement.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will have the opportunity to influence business decisions, strengthen organizational capabilities, and build on an already strong workplace culture.

We're looking for a progressive HR leader who combines strategic thinking with practical execution, builds trusted relationships, and understands that effective human resources is about more than policies and processes—it's about creating an environment where people and businesses thrive.

The Opportunity

As Vice President, Human Resources, you will lead the development and execution of HR strategies that support organizational objectives while ensuring the effective delivery of core HR programs and services.

This is a broad leadership role encompassing talent management, total rewards, employee relations, HR operations, organizational development, and employee engagement.

You will partner with senior leaders to anticipate workforce needs, develop talent, enhance HR practices, and ensure the organization continues to attract, retain, and develop exceptional people.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable contributing to executive-level strategy, coaching leaders through complex people matters, and rolling up their sleeves when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Develop and implement an HR strategy aligned with business priorities, organizational values, and long-term objectives.
  • Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, succession planning, and talent strategy.
  • Provide practical advice on organizational change, leadership effectiveness, and people-related business decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen HR programs, policies, and practices while supporting organizational performance.

Talent Management & Organizational Development

  • Lead talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
  • Build leadership capabilities and support career development throughout the organization.
  • Strengthen employee engagement and foster an environment that attracts and retains top talent.
  • Develop practical strategies to address evolving workforce needs and future talent requirements.

Total Rewards & HR Operations

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, payroll, and core HR operations.
  • Review and enhance total rewards programs to support attraction, retention, and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure HR policies and practices align with applicable employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive improvements in HR systems, processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Use relevant workforce metrics and insights to inform decision-making.

Employee Relations & Workplace Culture

  • Advise leaders on employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Champion a positive, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace.
  • Advance employee well-being and initiatives that strengthen engagement and the overall employee experience.
  • Ensure HR practices reflect the organization's values and commitment to its people and community.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish clear priorities and ensure effective delivery of HR programs and services.
  • Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain a balance between strategic leadership and hands-on involvement in day-to-day HR matters.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We're interested in an accomplished HR leader who combines strong business acumen, sound judgment, and a people-first leadership philosophy.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Significant progressive HR experience, including leadership across multiple HR functions.
  • Experience at the Director, Senior HR Leader, or Vice President level, preferably within a mid-sized organization.
  • A background in Property & Casualty insurance, reinsurance, insurance brokerage, financial services, or a related professional services environment.
  • Broad experience across compensation, benefits, payroll, employee relations, talent management, and HR operations.
  • A demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into effective HR strategies and practical solutions.
  • Experience leading and developing an HR team.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence, advise, and collaborate with senior leadership.
  • A hands-on, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to navigate both strategic priorities and operational responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of applicable employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • A genuine commitment to employee engagement, workplace culture, and organizational development.

A university degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline is preferred. A CHRL or CHRE designation would be an asset.
