About Us

STRIVE is a specialist recruitment firm offering proactive recruitment solutions in the areas of Accounting & Finance, Corporate Administration, Manufacturing Operations, and Technology. STRIVE supports various clients from small to medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 organizations for their permanent, contract, and temporary recruitment needs.

The Role

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with an established organization to recruit a detail-oriented and motivated HR Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with approximately one year of human resources or administrative experience who is looking to develop their career in HR. Working closely with the HR team, the successful candidate will provide support across recruitment, employee onboarding, benefits administration, data entry, and general HR operations.

The position will initially focus on administrative responsibilities, with opportunities to take on additional HR duties as experience and confidence grow. The HR Assistant will also provide occasional reception and administrative coverage, making flexibility, organization, and a team-oriented attitude essential.

For someone looking to build a long-term career in human resources, this organization offers opportunities for professional development, including potential financial support toward obtaining a CPHR designation after three years of successful employment.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team, including data entry, document management, filing, and maintaining employee records.
  • Update and maintain HR spreadsheets, databases, and tracking documents to ensure information is accurate and current.
  • Assist with employee onboarding processes, including preparing documentation, coordinating orientation activities, and maintaining employee files.
  • Support benefits administration, including updating employee information and assisting with enrolments and changes through Manulife.
  • Work with internal HR and administrative systems, including Effortless Admin, to maintain accurate employee information.
  • Assist with general HR inquiries, directing employees to the appropriate team members when necessary.
  • Support the preparation and organization of HR documentation, reports, and internal communications.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Assist with recruitment administration, including posting job advertisements, tracking applications, and coordinating interviews.
  • Review incoming applications through the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), identifying qualified candidates and forwarding suitable resumes to hiring managers.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records and update recruitment tracking spreadsheets.
  • Communicate with candidates regarding interview scheduling, application updates, and general recruitment inquiries.
  • Support recruitment initiatives, including job fairs, career events, and other talent acquisition activities as required.
  • Assist with coordinating pre-employment documentation and onboarding activities for new hires.

Reception & General Administration

  • Provide reception and administrative coverage during employee breaks, absences, and periods of increased workload.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls, ensuring a professional and welcoming experience for callers.
  • Assist with general office administration, including filing, scanning, document preparation, and maintaining organized records.
  • Support internal teams with administrative requests and day-to-day operational needs.
  • Assist with basic accounting-related administrative tasks when required, although previous accounts payable or receivable experience is not necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure administrative and HR processes run efficiently.

Requirements

  • Approximately 1 year of experience in human resources, recruitment coordination, office administration, or a related administrative role.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and electronic filing systems.
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) or HR Information Systems (HRIS) is considered an asset.
  • Previous exposure to employee onboarding, recruitment administration, or benefits coordination is preferred.
  • Experience with Manulife benefits administration or Effortless Admin would be an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, candidates, and management.
  • Comfortable answering incoming calls and providing reception coverage; experience with multi-line telephone systems is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling employee information.
  • A positive, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude, with a willingness to support both HR and general administrative functions.
